I mean he tried to talk to Hanners and said something she took offence to, but they spent some screentime together during the Padma arc and they seem pretty similar personality wise.

I think Elliott was a bit more assertive and cheery than Marten was. All they had in common was their interest in Padma, and even taking the Dora similarity into account, Elliott and Padma would be more of a co-worker dilemma than the Marten-Faye-Dora love triangle.
