She took his last comment as a question and answered it.
"Show us the Galaxy Warp."CALLED IT.
Well welcome to the comic Ahab, I'm sure we'll have a real name for you soon.
"You are never taller then when standing up for yourself"I hope he keeps Ahab.
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.So as Harry's inner critic would say, "oh, this was all just a setup for a sidequestplot to get Ahab into the story".
I'm pretty sure you're supposed to read the dialogue as Clinton speaking first in all four panels, but the last panel has a whole different punchline if you think "Ahab" speaks first.
she her hers hOI!!! i'm tempe... I didn't know there even was an established way to shorten "Brunhilde".
she her hers hOI!!! i'm tempeWell, at least it's not a name like Deirdre.
She does seem the type to have a valkyrie name.
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.And Ahab has a name!
.....who the hell names their child Brunhilde? Did they want her to be a witch?
I'm Charlie Owens, good night and good luck. PSNID: CEOIII 1117
Or a warrior lady.
"You are never taller then when standing up for yourself"The same sort of parent who would name their kid Blodwyn. Also, the middle name Raven, but I mean who cares about middle names
If this is Jeph's attempt at writing an autistic character I'm going to be extremely pissed off.
H.B. WardI doubt that she's exactly supposed to be autistic - someone with that full diagnosis would hardly function as a barmaid at all - but I guess she's not 100% neurotypical. You could say that she's a bit aspy.
Or you could just say that she's weird. I've met plenty of people who couldn't get social relationships quite right without being clinical cases, and that's in real life, not in a wacky comic strip. Heck, you could say that Brun is no worse than Clinton; just more abrasive and less nerdy.
= Spindriver =Eh. Her 'I Have Trouble With Emotion' statement is about run of the mill for issues explored in this comic.
"You are never taller then when standing up for yourself"Put simply: I don't want to be thought of as being in the same group as ''her''. She's not really representation material, or at least so far that's the case. I'm starting to think that's not actually Jeph's plan, though.
H.B. WardI'm going to give Jeph the benefit of the doubt and say that he just thought this sort of character is funny. Really aloof and gruff.
Jeph likes to source his character's Issuesnote to specific events. Dora's "Brother Complex", Faye's Dad Thing, Hannalore's Childhood, and so on. Hell, the only actual diagnosed Thing is Hanners OCD and even that's played down and more related to her Childhood Stuff.
It's doubtful Brun will be designated with a specific Thing, and more likely that her Trouble With Emotionsnote will be connected to some specific event or issue in her past.

"And as long as a sack of shit is not a good thing to be, chivalry will never die."Anyone else see her as, personalitywise anyway, as a human version of Bubbles?
Trump delenda estY'know, I honestly thought Brunhilde was just supposed to be "totally neurotypical, just kinda bad at social skills" until this comic. ... Are there things other than autism that have 'going nonverbal when you're stressed' as a Thing? That's the only one I can think of, but that might be on account of it being the thing I have.
she her hers hOI!!! i'm tempePTSD will do it, as will a few other diorders. Sometimes becoming non-verbal/'shutting down' is actually a coping mechanism therapists will suggest to be with trouble controlling their emotions.
Honestly though, I'm still not getting the 'meant to have a disorder' vibe- she's holding something here (the clock) and staring at intently, which leads me to believe it's some specific thing that's the source of her Issues[note]TM[/note].
Eh. I reserve judgement.
"You are never taller then when standing up for yourself"Earlier I was all "oh man, people seeing disorders in everything be whack, yo" but after this one... yeah, I find it hard to believe that there's not something at play, here. I hate it when people basically have to diagnose a character with the mysterious symptom "personality traits." But that's just... a bit much. She's clearly staring intently at that... thing in her hands, but she seems a bit aware of what she's about to go through that it just seems... odd.
Is the comic not going to explain what happened? Usually it's 1-2 panels of flash forward before How We Got Here. I'm actually fine leaving it as a Noodle Incident.

Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them.Yeah, I think I was wrong about what I said yesterday. My bad.
I'm still looking forward to her inclusion in the comic.
It's looking more and more like a retread of what first happened between Marten and Faye. Not that I mind.
"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."
