I think you have that backwards. The joke is that it is generic. It's basically like sending her flowers, but without the added stigma of that possibly being considered a romantic gesture. She's suspicious because she doesn't seem to actually know that, and does like fruit, so it seems specific and she can't remember having disclosed this particular bit of information to him.

But yeah, it's supposed to be a little generic. It's basically the nicest thing you can do for someone with absolutely no connotations or hidden meanings. It's just a basket of fruit and a card that says "thank you."

Swaying as her self-defense electroshock mechanism depowered, Momo noticed a scratch on Bubbles' forearm.
"Ah! They damaged your paintjob!"
"...So they have," Bubbles replied absentmindedly as she looked down at the scratch. Feeling woozy as her body's energy supply regulated itself, a course of action ran through Momo's mind fueled by an unknown feeling - one that not even she could make sense of.
"...B-Bubbles-san, my owner has some Anthro PC-grade chassis paint at her apartment. Would you... accompany me home for a while?"
The question surprised Bubbles, and a barely noticable blush spread onto her face - moreso to a faulty soldering job falling apart during the scuffle, blocking an air intake pipe and leaving her face unable to cool off normally.
"I... could use some maintenance."
Though she didn't understand why, a happy blush spread onto Momo's face as well. Something inside of her, free of any programming or predetermined thought, told her that her new acquaintance was... special, somehow.
And though the spontaneity of the feeling took Momo by surprise, she did not look into why she felt that way. The warm feeling that it made in her chest was enough.
Momo's chassis was also damaged during the unspecified awesome fight scene and the warm feeling is her cooling fan failing. It melts her body's control circuits, rendering her chassis unusable, and for some reason Bubbles decides to share her body with Momo. Hilarity Ensues.
