Whoa look at this really weird and cool Trish tech. (make sure annotations are on)
Man. Stuff like this makes me wish the series had Pv P.
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.I dunno. PVP would have to screw with how basic combat and/or combos work, or else there'd be a legion of players online who'd simply combo opponents from full health to death over and over.
Lampshade Hanging: It's a lifestyle.Yeah... God Of War Ascension kind of turns me off from that idea. They streamlined the controls to suit the multiplayer and ruined the single player. Even if they don't do that, you'd go from Devil May Cry to Anarchy Reigns.
I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!I kind of liked Ascension though.
Let's see if you can get past my Beelzemon. Mephiles, WARP SHINKA!Bump.
What Character Alignment would you give each major DMC character?
Chaotic Good or Neutral Good for the DMC crew and Nero (it's hard to say how much they care about the Law given that we only see them operate when the place wasn't infested by demons in the anime).
Some form of Good for Kyrie. She's possibly Lawful Good but it's impossible to say.
All demons other than Sparda, Virgil, and anyone not mentioned are Chaotic Evil.
Virgil is also Chaotic Evil.
Kyrie's brother (whose name I can't remember) probably counts as Lawful Neutral if you want to count the Order of the Sword's code as Law. If you do then all villains from The Order are Lawful Evil. If not then they're Chaotic Evil.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!Keeping Dante stupid powerful would work in a game with that proposed Nero on earth/Dante in Hell dual story. Dante having to fight demons in their element would justify them being tougher while you wouldn't have to stretch anything to justify Nero being challenged. Honestly, I just really like Dante in 3 and 4. He's a fun character that's just fun to watch.
He's... absolutely not a character in 3 and 4, but he is fun to watch.
Fun in 3 because his Marty Stu-ness is in direct competition with the game's difficulty, and fun in 4 because it's Nero vs the resident Marty Stu.
I'd much rather the game just be about Nero. 4 has proved that they really aren't going to do anything interesting with this iteration of Dante's character. His ending in 4 was pure "IDGAF explosions boobs pizza!"
Nero on the other hand is... at least relatively grounded and has room to grow without being wholly reinvented.

... What do they mean by "Dark Dante"? Donte?
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.Dante's an Escapist Character.
He's cool and we feel cool through him.
There's a little more to him than that, but that's his main appeal.
And that is the problem.
I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!...OK.
I'm gonna keep pretending to be cool by doing above average combos.
Probably because they feel Dante being "Cool for the empowerment of the player" makes him an uninteresting character.
As opposed to Nero who is cool but more flawed, I guess? In case you can't tell, I don't share this opinion.
Oh I can tell. Notice how I'm only directing my question at him.
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus. It's a problem because we accept Dante as an escapist fantasy, whose main appeal is being cool and nothing but, and we don't care because "tee hee he's so cool", but then we snark at "Donte" for doing literally the same thing because "ugh, he's such a wannabe edgelord." That's bullsh't.
Nero is a much better protagonist. His personality isn't as contrived, he actually has a personality beyond "Awesome Demon Bounty Hunter," and he had a plot thread that was left open enough to warrant continuation. I absolutely do not want another DMC where we're just playing as Dante again, off to fight demons because plot.
I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!Why wouldn't we keep Nero? Dude is great. I like Dante more, but Nero is better for the story so you kinda need him to stick around. I mean, the set-up is there for a "Dante and Nero storm Hell to save Vergil" story.

Except Donte is a bad 90's anti hero attempt at being cool.
Dante is more cool in the vein of Joss Whedon. Theres a difference.
Nero I see just a reskinned Ichigo anyhow.

Watch SymphogearDonte is an ineffective protagonist. He barely has a personality beyond... I honestly don't really know what they were going for. He just kinda gets told to do stuff and has standards I guess. I'm probably selling him short, but I don't think by much.
At least Classic Dante, particularly in 3, has issues with his father. He resents him, but in the end, realises what he did and decides to fight for what's right, ironically emulating Sparda more than Vergil who was obsessed with living up to the Legendary Dark Knight's legacy.
At least donte has more of a personality than DMC 2 Dante.
Oh come on, that's not fair.
A piece of cheese has more personality than... DMC 2 Dante... urgh...
I have no idea what the writers were thinking there.
Didn't the novelisation have to come up with a reason he was Out of Character?
No one likes an Invincible Hero after all. But a wimpy hero is insufferable as well.
