I'm hoping Kurt and Blaine stay together out of principle, because I don't trust Ryan Murphy for a second on anything Glee-related anymore. I'm just going to start writing lots of scripts and somehow get them to the Glee cast so they can recover from, well, being in the last four seasons of Glee.

The local bard Just wondering, is anyone still watching the actual show Glee, if only for guilty pleasure or masochism?

I tend to out of masochism.

Of course she would sing the Idina Menzel smash hit fuck-it-all song. It fits her character like a damned glove. I'm only surprised she didn't do it sooner.

I thought Disney owned that...well, they let em sing Belle Notte.

But it's okay, her mother and her are tight like that.

So I found it kind of sad that Rachel's TV career was going to be cut short, but maybe they'll at least end on a higher note now.

And Kurt and Blaine might actually get married...?

I dropped the series at about the time Kurt started ignoring Blaine's calls. What happened in the meantime? Did Kurt stop being a Mary Sue who never faces the consequences of his actions?

Was that before or after Blaine cheated with that guy when Kurt was in New York?

From an article about How To Get Away With MurderGay Sex

Plenty of more earnest shows, from Switched at Birth to Glee, deserve praise for conscientiously introducing diversity into the cultural landscape. But it’s also great to see that piousness tossed aside for something a little grittier, more sordid, less concerned with being good and responsible.

Glee. Responsible.

Glee was responsible sometimes in some episodes.

Honestly, more and more I start to firmly believe that Glee falls into the Positive Discrimination camp with critics. tongue

After hearing that Blaine got into the cheating scene too, I ran out of characters for whom I had any fucks to give.

I do love Glee, but I'm kind of glad that this last season is only half as long as a normal one. It may have been because of the long break, or Cory dying, or the loss of the season fivers, but this season feels really lonely...

I think they said though that Marley, Ryder, Jake and Unique might come back in the later episodes...I really hope so. I hate losing regulars.

So despite this thread hanging on life support, I still like to talk in it.

Sue has become a true cartoon villain. Shooting a fire extinguisher at students, putting them in pens, and setting dogs on them...she could get away with literal murder by now. Her plot-related bullying has become pretty much unpunishable.

But I'm still liking this season. The performances are good, and the new new New Directions are cool and good-looking, and I like the ships. Rachel and Sam alla Sue's hypnosis, Kurt and Blaine alla Sue's Jigsaw games, and even the possibly incestuous Cheerio kids.

I hope the last few episodes of Glee hold out well enough.

Rachel and Sam? They've exhausted all the possibilities, have they...

It was the reasonable last shot. Rachel doesn't know anybody else and what's the point in making a new guy for the last season?

At least she's known him for so long. He's not Finn, but it's nice to have Rachel still be with somebody. They just gotta build em up well for the end.

Glee always feels lonely now with Cory dead, the inaugural class only occasionally recurring, and even last year's newbies gone.

But I remember that people still watch the show and I'll hold out with it until it's over.

I guess I'll give this season a try, if only out of solidarity. I'll be back later this evening with my impressions.

[up]x4 Then don't try to force out a relationship at all. Why must everyone's ending have to hinge on being in a relationship??? Always???

Keybreak Since: Apr, 2010
#15073: Feb 5th 2015 at 1:43:05 PM

Because endings are expectations of where the characters would end up in the future. In Cory's tribute episode Rachel said that she always believed that she and Finn would end up married.

Since he's gone people have been wanting Rachel to still have some romantic feeling in her life, if at least a little before the show is over.

I don't think she has to end out with Sam in the end—she may just decide to stay friends and look for a boyfriend outside of everyone she knew in high school AND college.

[up]Then why build up to it at all? Why present this subplot at all?

I don't think everyone should be in the relationships that they end up with for some 'idea of the future'. I think that's just kind of stupid. Its not a bad thing to not be in a relationship. And god knows I have to keep telling myself that because shows like Glee put so much emphasis on having a relationship. They run off this idea that, if you're in one, you revolve around your relationship most of the time. If you're not in one, you're constantly trying to have one or thinking about having one. Its bullshit.

And, considering Glee seemingly lacks the maturity to put together a healthy relationship or even healthy friendships most of the time, I do think that backing down from doing ANOTHER pointless relationship plotline would be a good idea and I very much will fault them for not doing exactly that.

These writers have learned nothing in these 6 seasons.

Well I liked this episode, and I like that the newbies are remembered. Even if the oldbies are still prominently featured, it's nice that they still have things to do.

The best way this series could end is with a full glee club, all of the regulars still nearby and even last year's kids at Brittany's and Santana's wedding? If it's not gonna be Kurt's and Blaine's.

And All About That Bass sung at the next episode, they were probably definitely going to do that.
