What is so amusing about this? Why do you take lives? How can you forget?

[up] No, Critical Hit would probably be an Instant. Critical Strike is a common term used for skills and talents that increase critical-hit rates.

Amulet of Pain + literally anything that can put charge counters on an artifact = extra damage. Gilder Bairn or Vorel of the Hull Clade if you're particularly impatient.

Soothing Mantras - W
Enchantment
During each upkeep, each player gains 1 life.
Even those of darkest heart find themselves muttering the words in times of distress.

Actually, I came up with the idea for Amulet of Pain as I was building a deck for this guy, since you can't always give your guys flash. Though the proliferate shenanigans also work nicely.

Oh yeah. You could also smack your opponent with a lightning bolt and then ration out the points of damage so that you can always trigger bloodthirst abilities.

And in addition to the damage you deal normally being doubled, you could use the amulet's own ability to double it each turn. How's THAT for quad damage? Yeesh.

Would it just be that turn, or would you have to remember every creature he's gotten lost that way?

To go with the Capitalism and Communism cards from a few pages back, have an Objectivism card.

Objectivism (3BBB)

Legendary Enchantment

When ~ ETB, exile up to three target creatures on the field. For each creature exiled, gain a 0/1 Artifact Creature token named Gold with "Sacrifice this card: Add one mana of any color to your mana pool".

During your upkeep, summon one Gold token.

When a Gold you control is sacrificed, each opponent loses 1 life.
