[up] Hum, I'll see that soon enough I guess…

Volume 25-26.

  • So Fate's most deadly weapon is his tongue, huh. He would make a good politician.
  • Rakan is his own self, and of course, he cuts the most "juicy" part of his story − the one about Asuna and what happened after the war. Thanks a lot!
  • So Arica might be Negi's mom but nobody is gonna tell him because reasons. Stop trolling, Akamatsu, thanks.
  • Rakan, not giving a shit about what's supposed to be possible since 2008.
  • … is it me or Negi is taller than Nodoka now? ò.O When did that happen?
  • Also, why does Nodoka even bother to pull out her book now that she has a tool to hear the thoughts directly from it?
  • 'sup Anya. o/
  • Hum, wait, Shiori actually copied not only Asuna's appearance and personnality, but even her artifact? —'.`— But the Q&A under the cover says she can't do that… did I miss something?
  • My, there are a lot of power-ups and pactios for Negi in this arc… this time looked like a summary of all the training arc elements seen so far, compressed within 2 chapters. It all feels a bit rushed, but considering who he's supposed to fight…

That last page of vol. 26 made me think, if Konoka and Setsuna made a pactio, would Setsuna get another artifact?

Am I asking too many questions at once?

She has a sword that looks like Asuna's but it doesn't work for shit. It's just a prop.

[up]This. Or, to be more accurate, it works exactly like a normal sword. But she doesn't know that while she's using it.

Might be. All those Year Inside, Hour Outside shenanigans mean he's aging somewhat faster than his students.

Lyendith: Just because you can copy the appearance of something doesn't mean you can copy its abilities.

rikalous: I'm pretty sure Akamatsu ignored that time dilation meant Negi should be older than his year of birth would suggest.

You should just be told already now you reached this point; they'll never address this plot point at all. They never tell him what happened to her or exactly why they won't tell him either, and Negi will never question any of this.

Which is why I'm dubious we'll ever get any light on what the hell the deal with Touta's parents is.

All those Year Inside, Hour Outside shenanigans mean he's aging somewhat faster than his students.

It soon becomes a moot point anyway when Negi becomes immortal (which I'm not spoiler marking since it's something anyone reading UQ Holder, like Lyendith, already knows).

Ah, I get it for the sword. But that means she will be busted the second she actually has to fight…

[up][up] Well, even taking that into account, he didn't spent more than a few months in Eva's resort at that time. surprised And he's still almost a head shorter than Asuna.

Hum… maybe Nodoka isn't standing actually.

[up] Well, thanks for warning me in advance —'.`— It'll avoid me any frustration. Maybe he'll use UQ to answer the questions left hanging in Negima though… why even bother to make it a sequel otherwise?

We'll we can only hope. Personally I'd rather see him address UQ plot points in UQ first than Negima. But then again, that's just me.tongue

UQ Holder has it's own plot points? I thought it was mostly Negima leftovers. tongue

It's kinda lame addressing Negima's loose ends in UQ Holder, mostly because Touta and the others have no real reason to care about what happened to a bunch of people they never met and died decades ago. If there's no emotional investment for the characters, there's no emotional payoff for the readers.

My favorite outcome would be UQ ends up revealing this is the Asuna-less timeline, the epilogue has Eva and Good!Chao taking Asuna back in time, and then we get a proper Negima followup showing how Asuna's presence changes the future and all the loose ends from Negima are answered properly where they belong. But let's be honest, it'll never happen.

There are sure many bits connected to Negima. But it has it's own things to deal with, Touta's goal in life, Kuromaro's decision, and it's still young, there's bound to be many more popping up.

NapoleonDeCheese Since: Oct, 2010

The thing is Kuromaru doesn't make his own decisions. Much like Setsuna, he's someone the more forceful characters just yank along at their will.

Asuna is fairly tall.

Speaking of being the Asunaless timeline, I brought the idea up somewhere else and everyone really hated it. I don't really remember why, but it was surprising since it seemed like a really obvious conclusion to draw to me.

None of the UQ flashbacks so far have shown Asuna, despite it being logical she'd be at Negi's side at least during the important moments even if she's charged with whatever her royal duties are.

Especially since (I assume), she must have become pretty damn powerful after retrieving her full memories…

By the way, am I the only one thinking they should totally make a fighting game out of this series? surprised One on a real console, I mean.

I think that could be pretty interesting. I'd buy it if it was for PS 3 [down]That would be a requirement for me too. Well, as long as long as it's based on the manga and they included the Neo-pactio animal characters as some type thing from an alternate universe like the Neko Arcs in Melty Blood that could be okay.

As long as it's based on the manga instead of the anime and its bullshit Neo-Pactios that risk turning the Ministra into a tiny, useless animal.

I'm reminded of the DS games that were SRPGs, but you had 30 seconds of fighting game gameplay after picking a target to attack. There was one for the original manga's Kyoto arc, and one for Negima!?.

Wasn't there a fighting game for Wii? Though that was for Negima!?.

What's that neo-pactio thing? >.< Well, there would be some awesome combos to pull off with the fist-fighter types like Negi or Kû Fei. Or even with Asuna or Setsuna's swords. And Rakan would be the character pulverizing all the others in one hit. tongue

Volume 27-28.

  • Ah, so Negi is still shorter than Nodoka after all. I thought it was strange.
  • I wasn't a big fan of the training phase, but that was admittedly an awesome fight. surprised
  • And yes, the Eternal Negi Fever made an appearance. tongue
  • Although, hum, it's weird to give Negi a special artifact for only one fight; and he barely uses it, to boot…
  • Ako took the reveal better than I thought… oh well, that works too.
  • Hum, at least we have a confirmation that Arica is Negi's mother. Good thing that was clarified relatively quickly (not like there were any other candidates anyway…)
  • … which technically makes Asuna Negi's aunt…?
  • I have to reconsider my opinions on Tosaka and Emily. This volume made me like them a bit.
  • Paru is scary, but we already knew that.
  • And then the yuri fanboy in me cried tears of joy mmTT^TT The scene was mostly as I imagined it, although I thought it would rather be in some kind of emergency situation. And with a kiss like that, don't tell me that it doesn't officialize anything. >_< W-Well, it is Konoka, a carefree girl who does everything wholeheartedly, but…
  • Oh, and I have the answer to my question about the second artifact…
  • I like the girls' reaction to learning that the magical world is on Mars. tongue "We're on Mars?! But that means… that doesn't mean a damn thing actually!" evil grin
  • So this (those) Fate(s) is/are artificial human(s) produced in series or something? There's this comment from Akamatsu implying that Fate doesn't have a soul…

That artifact would be too much of a gamebreaker. Also a political nightmare. And also invalidate pretty much the entirety of Ala Alba.

Asuna is not Arika's little sister. They're related, but not nearly that closely.

Also, too bad, nothing is ever confirmed with Setsuna and Konoka. Don't get your hopes up. In fact, with Touta's last name being what it is the reasonable assumption would be that it never happens.

Yes, Fate is a construct. Eva hinted as much way back in Kyoto.

Still should have been handled much better and explained. It ended up being one of many What Happened to the Mouse?

Yeah, the problem is… that it ever existed in the first place. It's not even used for a decisive blow or anything, just to cancel one attack at the beginning. There wasn't really any reason to introduce it at all.

Also, too bad, nothing is ever confirmed with Setsuna and Konoka. Don't get your hopes up. In fact, with Touta's last name being what it is the reasonable assumption would be that it never happens.

Aw, but their mutual love is so obvious it's not even funny. Everyone Can See It even in-universe. It might be possible that Konoka isn't really Tōta's grandmother but he somehow took her name (to erase Asuna's existence for some reason?) Or there was an adoption involved. Yes, I won't accept that they are not an official couple, no matter what. >.< Now admittedly, Konoka's family wouldn't be very happy to learn that the only heir won't have any children…

[down] … point taken I guess. surprised

I knew what happened without having to read the notes on what happened to the artifact. I'm actually confused as to why everyone else was confused.

[up]The reason was to invalidate that use of the attack and any further uses of the attack. He didn't need to pull it out again because Rakan isn't an idiot.
