Go WMX or go home
Oh really when?Lemme just pull up my modlist here...
Tale of two wastelands is pretty cool and it's really nice to be able to go back to DC while not losing the gameplay improvements of FNV.
The someguy series features several hours of combat heavy gameplay with a fairly good story inside.
titanfallout is exactly what it sounds like and it sounds fucking awesome.
Project Nevada offers a lot of gameplay improvements and cool toys to tinker with. The difficulty module is also adjustable so you can tailor the experience more to your liking.
Weapons of the new millennial is a collection of really well designed firearms. Dat Jackhammer.
Weapon Mod Vending Machine places a bunch of vending machines that dispense those hard to acquire mods. At 5x the price. Convenience is not cheap in the wastes.
The New Bison Steve Hotel mod allows you to fix up the old place with several bonuses attached.
Courier Six power armor adds a really nice set of early game power armor for those of you who like to roleplay a rusty, walking tank.
Courier Cache adds a short quest with some good looking clothes/weapons and one of the best homes in the wastes for you survivalist types.
Is using "Julian Assange is a Hillary butt plug" an acceptable signature quote?Courier's Cache also has Carlos. You never forget Carlos.
Carlos is one of the best NP Cs in the game, modded in or not. The voice actor clearly had a lot of fun playing him.
The cowboy outfit thingy looks really good on Willow - my character usually wears other stuff.
Next episode looks to be Mariposa.
#IceBearForPresidentI never thought being able to kill Benny would be so satisfying. Just a couple of shots to the head with a plasma rifle, and I now have the chip, his pistol, and his suit.
Nice vid! I knew a bit of that, like the Howard Hughes reference, but most of it was new to me.
FEV's the topic of the day.
In two weeks: Gary. Gary Gary!

I'm starting New Vegas again. What order would you recommend to do the DLC in? Because I'm at a bit of a loss.
Usually when I start, I "meta" away all of the gear that each DLC loads onto my Courier at Doc Mitchell's house. What I did with Fallout 3 (not having this problem) was pretend that the LW would search these far-off beacons for any sign of James (thus, I did Operation Anchorage, then The Pitt, and recently, Mothership Zeta, while I'll save Broken Steel and Point Lookout for after the Main Quest).
But the problem I'm having with New Vegas is that, A, I have no idea why these DLC quests give the Courier items and if they have any significance. And B: the Courier is looking for a package, and while I suppose I could pretend the Courier doesn't really care about the package and just wants to seek out adventure/other goals, I don't know what the DLC's are about, so it's kind of a crapshoot determining how, why, or when my Courier would go to each location and for what.
For example: my LW is a decent person.
- LW stumbles into Operation Anchorage while avoiding Megaton, and his PIP boy makes him useful. He gets awesome power armor that makes him more confident to challenge the deadlier foes in the game.
- LW hears a distress beacon - maybe his father left the Vault to help them? He goes to The Pitt.
- LW hears a strange signal from Mothership Zeta. Maybe his father is using that signal to contact him?
Now, the Courier is a bit more ambiguous, and I'm a little concerned because - the DLC's all connect into a larger arc, so I've heard, so maybe this is really meant for "after" the Courier finished the Main Quest:
- I know Dead Money is about a deal gone wrong. I think this is where you're slapped with a bomb collar. So... would the Courier just happen to stumble into this scenario?
- Don't know a thing about Honest Hearts. Does it start in a way where the Courier is a victim of circumstance, or is there some hint of intent as to why he's there?
- Old World blues involves abduction and scientific experimentation... so this could happen at any point I suppose.
- And Lonesome Road involves Ulysses and the Courier's past... so I figure that'll be the last thing I ever do in New Vegas, at least the console version anyway.
Honest Hearts is the only one I've even started. It starts in a cave you have to look for, and it has weight requirements. There is no way in Hell you're just stumbling into it. You cans tumble into the starting point, sure, but it doesn't automatically begin once you get there. You have to actively set it up by dropping your gear down below seventy pounds (maybe seventy five) and ditch any companions you've got. It begins with you talking to a caravan group wanting to go up to Xion National Park.
Have you played the DLC or vanilla New Vegas before?
Personally, the order I go in for each DLC is Honest Hearts > Dead Money > Old World Blues > Lonesome Road.
Generally I do Honest Hearts once I've dealt with Benny, Dead Money once I've decided on a faction to support, Old World Blues after I've done a few quests for that faction, and Lonesome Road right before the finale.

"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."I've played vanilla New Vegas before, but haven't touched the DLC's yet.
Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).I go in order of DLC release - for me, that's the only real way that they make a cohesive story. Plus doing Dead Money first gets that bloody thing out of the way damned quick and it lets me use the what I consider bribes for completion that much longer.
I tend to do Honest Hearts first because it's the shortest, but the "correct" order to do them in is Dead Money -> Honest Hearts -> Old World Blues -> Lonesome Road.
Edit: But seriously, the DLC's are awesome. Honest Hearts is probably the worst, but it's still interesting and sheds a lot of light on certain characters. Dead Money's characters and storyline are probably the best in the game, and Old World Blues is hilarious.

Gameplay-wise, I adore Dead Money and feel that Lonesome Road was the weakest in that regard (although I was at a really high level when I did it, and there's no denying that was a factor, it was more the linearity of Lonesome Road that bugged me).
Story-wise, HH is probably the weakest (although Joshua is fricking awesome).
In my opinion, all of the DLC for this game were good and worth the price.

Lurker ExtraordinaireAlright, thanks to you guys and Game FAQ's, the most recommended order seems to be: Honest Hearts (post-main quest/vanilla), Dead Money, Old World Blues, and Lonesome Road.
I've got to tell ya, the trailer for Lonesome Road, Ulysses's ominous narration... it's got me really excited. "And then you and I... we're going to have an ending to things." Bad-ass.
Now, I'll just think out loud a little bit.
I like to roleplay (sue me), but due to the sheer lack of "sci-fi, open-world games with guns", and the rare opportunity of playing a "courier", and my own surprising lack of originality... I've composed three "Couriers" for myself.
See when I first played, I had trouble figuring out what I thought this guy or gal would do in their situation. Why chase after somebody who shot you in the head when you just barely survived? I came up with personas I was somewhat comfortable with. A Courier who would go after Benny following the Main Quest, a Courier who might go after him but back off, and a Courier who would go after him, but only peripherally.
Heisenberg. I've started this guy on three different files, and I've never seen him through. Now I plan to. After waking up in Doc Mitchell's house, he's none too happy about having his package stolen. He's a greedy science hero, anything for the betterment of science, logic, and what he considers to be cvilization usually has his support. He'll do anything to save his own life or make a profit. He's no gunfighter, but he's tenacious and a smooth talker. He knew exactly what was in the package and he really wants it back, so Main Quest first and foremost.
- Tag skills are Barter, Science, and Repair.
- He'd help fight the Powder Gangers, but he'd extort the town for money. Failing that, (if I fail too many speech checks or don't pick the right dialogue choices) he'll switch sides to the Powder Gangers and their muscle.
- Like his namesake, he'll pick up chems and sell them for top dollar, but he won't get high on his own supply.
- Morally ambiguous. Generally picks the more negative options, but he's not a total monster.
- Generally won't steal. He's a businessman. He will demand better rewards, however.
- Tag skills are Melee Weapons, Sneak, and Survival.
- He's got soft spot for victims and children. He'll help his fellow man, but he won't stick his neck out too far. He's not above thievery either; caps, chems. He's not very good with Guns and keeping anything in one piece.
- Generally picks positive, 'middle-ground' options. Probably the closest to being Heroic among the three. (I figure I'll divvy up main missions when they're not pressing, and jump around to help other folks in the meantime).
- He's help the town fight off the Powder Gangers, but probably not care much about that out-of-towner.
- He'll steal and sell almost anything, and he dabbles in Chems once in awhile (Chem Addictions, ho'!) He'll lift gear and ammo from bandits and abandoned areas, but won't openly steal from houses and the like.
- He wants his package back, but he'll settle for the nearest good fight (thus, I'll probably skip away from the main quest and look for danger and weapons).
- Tag skills Guns, Explosives, and Unarmed. SPECIAL - Perception, Endurance, and Agility take priority.
- Is a generally evil character; he'd help the Powder Gangers take over Goodsprings.

Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).Managed to get Tale of Two Wastelands up again. Decided to take my Courier back, despite not having started her in the DC area. Crikes, am I happy she's high-level.
A new game was started, so I will play partially through the DC stuff and then make the fateful trip to NV and wake up in Doc Mitchell's office.
Happiness is zero-gee with a sinus cold.To TW's DC super mutants are fucking brutal. Once overlords showed up I had to grab the gauss rifle and sneak crit like nobody's business. I'm considering using the rebalance option in my next run so I can actually use something other then a modded gauss with max charge ammo.
Is using "Julian Assange is a Hillary butt plug" an acceptable signature quote?I really don't think any of the DL Cs, save maybe Lonesome Road, lend themselves well to being done "post-game." Inasmuch as New Vegas even has a post game, since you can't load a save from after the credits rolling.
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."" Inasmuch as New Vegas even has a post game, since you can't load a save from after the credits rolling."
That's true, you can't. Not in the vanilla console versions, or the vanilla pc version anyway. But there is an app for that if you are willing to mod:
http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/42428/?
In fact there are several...
I really don't see the point of those mods. I doubt any of them make significant enough changes that you wouldn't be better served just loading a save from before the ending and pretending it's over.
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."The DL Cs are great. Personally, if you want a set order, then I think the best way to approach it is Lonesome Road last. Release order is the best way to go through things, but any other order is fine as long as LR is last.
Story wise, Dead Money trumps them all, it's no contest. Gameplay, however...I think Old World Blues, just because it was fun to explore the Big MT.
"Curry killed the pussy hoping that I could kill the hate in you" - Curry, D. "TABOO | TA13OO." TA13OO, PH, 2018The story behind Dead Money was sort of interesting, but drowned out by all those bloody speakers, damage sponge mooks and all those bloody speakers. Particularly nice were the ones that don't react at all to getting shot, hit with high explosives or plasma balls from that Holorifle thingy. I know, ragnarok proof and all that garbage, but seriously, come on! They would have to have been made from dwarf star cores and smashed badgers to be that bloody durable.
My fave out of all four story DLC is still and probably always will be Lonesome Road. Though a full game like it would have been a slog.
So I've been thinking of booting up good ol' Vegas again, but this time perhaps with some extra juice put in it.
What mods would you guys recommend? I know that Project Nevada is generally well-regarded, but what about others? Are there any other mods that fix the karma dispensers that are Fiends than FOOK?
