Guys.

I found a mod that makes it so you have to poop.

Best mod? Best mod.

It's not the best mod unless there's fully modeled poop and an option to do it in the middle of the desert. tongue

I don't believe they made it so poop spawns under you when you do it, but there is the option to do it anywhere!

So for the first time in what feels like forever, I started playing Fallout: New Vegas again. My Courier's doing the House route, but making sure to stay on good terms with the NCR. And all the quest stuff at Camp McCarren happened, went to Freeside, did stuff there, went to the Strip and killed Benny and now I'm working for Mr. House. Fun times.

Purge the heretic! Cleanse and purify in the Courier's name! The only true ending is the Wild Card ending! Deviation will be punished!

Giggles.

If may be serious for a bit now, I never really saw the point of any other ending, though. All of the others hand power over the Mojave to forces whose time has either passed, like House, or just flat out don't come from there and have no business interfering in its affairs like the NCR or Sallow's Merry Band, and should not butt their heads in. Don't forget that there is nothing to say that the Courier wasn't originally from the area.

Why shouldn't the Courier gain the benefits of their hard work instead of handing it over to groups or individuals who see them as nothing more than ghosts from the machine?

They tried to make most of the factions morally ambiguous. I don't really think they did very well. The Legion has zero redeeming qualities, and even though the NCR actually has lots of major flaws, it kinda feels like that was glossed over. I think they need some major reforms and a change in leadership. :/ IDK though.

the main assumption people have with the wild card ending is that the courier cant handle the responsibility as well as someone like house or the ncr could but, i dont really see that as being true from courier to courier and honestly if you take the time to resolve most of the mojave's various settlement's issues you've practically earned benefit of the doubt.

Sadly due to time constraints, most of the Legion territory you were meant to be able to visit so you could see the few positive things the Legion had to offer (Like stability in towns due to the Legion keeping all citizens safe as long as they obey an order immediately.) was cut from the game.

Sure, there's heaps of negative things the Legion has to offer, but I think if the territory had been in the vanilla game, it could have been a more viable option.

I'll likely do a playthrough for Independant after I do my House playthrough, I already did an NCR playthrough in 2012. I think I'll enjoy the House ending the most though.

I always go for NCR. I'm a good citizen of the Republic.

And on an unrelated note, anyone else think we should have a little recomended mods page for New Vegas? We've got one for Skyrim

Oh really when?

Technically the Skyrim page shouldn't even exist.

[up][up][up][up][up] Unfortunately, the change in leadership the NCR needs is only going to happen if they get kicked out of the Mojave. Moore, Kimball and Oliver will all come out of an NCR victory looking like heroes.

Yeah, but people like Hsu and Boone will also get promoted.

I thought it was canon that Hsu gets demoted, with Cassy Moore (/spit) ending up with his job as the gauleiter of the Neue Ordnung in the Mojave? After all, a NCR victory in the war proves that Moore's and Oliver's "tactics" were "sound" and "militarily justified" and all that shit. Leaving aside the fact that they cost hundreds of lives for no appreciable gain until a head-shot postal delivery person rocked up and sorted their shit out for them.

No, Hsu keeps his rank. Dummied Out content reveals that Moore gets promoted because Hsu is honest and denied having anything to do with what's happened in the NCR route. The NCR ambassador gets fired if you settle things with the Kings peacefully without using your favour from The King thanks to Moore, but nothing happens to Hsu.

Shame there was no route in the NCR route to get Hsu put in charge in an honest way that he would accept, if he was running the place instead of General Oliver or Moore, things would be alright.

@Cassidy: It's not that the NCR's problems are glossed over, it's that you're allowed to fix the NCR's problems, but you don't get the same opportunity to fix the Mojave.

Say the NCR win with the Courier doing the bare minimum possible to help them. They end up fighting the Boomers (but being unable to take Nellis, because the Boomers are way too strong), evicting the Followers, throwing the Khans onto a reservation, squabbling with the Kings over Freeside, and killing off the Brotherhood (though I really don't mind that). Yet you can fix things between the NCR and the Boomers, Followers and Kings, get the Khans out of the NCR's way, and even use the NCR to keep the Brotherhood honest instead of killing them off.

Now, Wild Card. You can't keep the Brotherhood honest without slaughtering them, you can't provide support to the Followers, and for some reason (not present in the Mr. House ending, so as far as I'm concerned this is a bug) the Boomers stay shut up in Nellis. The latter two, I think, are problematic; they send a sign that a lone maverick outside the chain of command can singlehandedly solve the problems of an overextended modern democracy, but that the same maverick can't use their own extensive resources (such as a robot army and connections with chem makers, even leaving the DLC out of this calculation) to provide security and order in the Mojave.

I'm no Chris Avellone, but this is weird.

As much as people tend to say House is past his time or whatever, like Ulysses(who I can forgive given he doesn't have the context the player has)

Idk it never really felt like House was anything other than Howard Hughes in 2077 so for him to do what he has with Vegas, it seems more like him stepping up to the plate. The guy saw opportunity and ran with it.

I think that's kinda the point of Wild Card. You're not uniting these groups, you're giving them freedom to do whatever the fuck they want.

..so wait, why wont the boomers go outside if you do wildcard? everything they do is motivated by you specifically. the entire point of even letting you in was to make them more open to going outside, so why would lack of ncr mean no boomers?

Probably because the NCR had stuff worth trading for, while they see the other Mojaveans as savages.

The problem with the Legion is that they're an army of faceless monsters, rather than a group filled with individual human beings. It's just not believable, and they're that way seemingly so the player has an easy enemy to kill. It doesn't matter how much Caesar tries to indoctrinate everyone, their should be at least some variety. If Caesar killed everyone who was slightly different, he'd be killed by his own people. The NCR works because, despite all the flaws, the population and characters are varied and human. The Legion are essentially orcs, where the only difference is that everyone is evil in different ways.

The Legion towns wouldn't help much, because the main writing issue would remain.
