Angry Video Game Nerd

Favorite "unconventional episode" for me is either AVGN Games, Sega CD, or the Tiger Handhelds.

I also love the Game Boy and the Berenstain Bears episodes. And Desert Bus is a fantastic episode.

I liked his episodes covering Sega's hardware woes. The way he described the various add-ons to the Genesis as life support seemed pretty fitting.

NES Accesories was good too, especially him ranting about the Speedboard (seriously, what was the point of that thing?) and that voice activated laser scope.

On a related note the Game Boy accessories episode was pretty good too. Just because of all the insane add-ons.

Funny, these days consoles tend to act as life support for various gimmicks like camera addons.

"Genesese? Genesise?"

Mega Drives.

Speaking of his non-avgn videos, I wonder if he'll ever do anymore of those playlist junkie videos, those were pretty cool (in fact, if he ever retires the AVGN, i'd like to see a music review series by James, he obviously knows his stuff).

I'm always confused about Mike Matei since whenever I see videos with him, I start feeling really really uncomfortable ._. Like something about him triggers my "this guy is a jerk" radar for some reason

I get what you mean. I get the same vibe from game theory.

Makes me glad that Matei doesn't show his face often in the actual AVGN episodes.

Mike used to post on the since long defunct "Golden age Cartoons " site, and was rather antagonistic there.

@Luminosity: Hmm yeah, Matpat comes across as smug to most people from what I've seen. I don't think he is jerk though, he seems more of goofball judging by livestreams. Then again, I guess you can be annoyingly smug without being jerk? *shrugs*

Anyhoo back to Mike, he is actually reason why I stopped following Cinemassacre site regularly. Even though I never found info about douchy things he had said or done, I just couldn't stand his videos because of that uncomfortable feeling.

BTW, i've been meaning to ask this, but what became of Bootsty? He disappeared sometime last year, and his (very short) "Bootsy Beats" videos were removed. Falling out with James or Mike?

He went on his own way to focus on a music project, which will most likely pop up on his bandcamp. Or you could subscribe to the conspirancy that Mike eliminated him from the equation.

So uh, I watched that apparently infamous Minecraft with Inspector Gadget video.

What in the fuck did I just watch...this is...what's the punchline? What's the humor? Is this even humor? Is this...is the punchline that it's not funny? Or...I don't even know what I just watched but it was the worst two minutes and forty-eight seconds of my life.

Isn't it just random crap on You Tube? You know, like a lot of You Tube videos?

You watch Minecraft with Inspector Gadget for the same reason people watch, for example, the cutscenes from the Zelda CD-i games.

Is it genuinely terrible and unfunny? Yes. Does making fun of it bring endless enjoyment? Also yes.
Though that might depend on the person, since the main reason people remember/make fun of the video these days is because SiIvaGunner started using it in his rips.

Random can be funny,but it's a 50/50 thing,

Should apply to all humor...

Of course, improv can be funny too, but it can also fall flat. Just look at Monthy Python.
