WE ARE THE JAPANESE SPIRIT WARRIORS VS THE RAYGUN GOTHIC ALLIES

Pretty much Exactly What It Says on the Tin. This is the Pacific Front of World War X, set in an alternate 1950's engulfed in a war to end them all.

-on the island of Mindanao, the citizens cower in fear as a procession of Japanese vehicles parades down the muddy thoroughfares, crushing anyone foolish enough not to step aside and let them pass. From loudspeakers hung on the trees, a stern and authoritarian voice is repeating the same message over and over again in different languages:-

{Citizens of Davao! I, Shinshiro Kenji of the Showa Shogunate, have slain your unworthy leaders in honourable combat. You will now have the unmitigated pleasure of experiencing the rule of His Imperial Eminence, Showa of the Rising Sun. We shall not be denied!}

-a squadron of fighters shaped like classic rocket ships blast toward the isle-

-one of the ships has a bright, overly-elaborate paint scheme-

This is Justice One, can you remind me of mission objectives, over?

{You will devote yourselves, body and soul, to the veneration of the Shinto religion—let your barbaric cults and pagan rituals be swept away by the tide of progress! You will adopt the society embraced and sanctified by His Majesty! Your children will have the honour of serving as reserves in the Imperial Armed Forces! Your women will be properly clothed and educated in the ways of culture and refinement!}

-little points of light begin gathering around the tips of the rocketships-

We break those Japs. Any other silly questions?

-on the beach, two Japanese soldiers have been posted as lookouts; one of them spots the incoming squadron-

Lookout #1: {Commander!} Amerikajin! {Sound the alarm!}

Lookout #2: Yosha!

-klaxons immediately begin to blare across the length and breadth of the island of Mindanao-

{And finally, as the gaijin have decided to affront the Rising Sun with their presence, you will witness the might of the Imperial Armed Forces! Watch and learn, citizens, for the least of them is the best you can aspire to!}

Okay, Justice One engaging.

-Justice One sends a signal to his flight; they break off and fire their ray guns at ground targets-

-deeply-entrenched artillery batteries emerge from the ground and open fire upon the allied fighters; on the ground, two runners beat a hasty pace toward an enormous prefabricated building styled after a medieval Japanese castle. The building's towering doors are guarded by a pair of blood-red Oni, the tiger-skin loincloths and enormous clubs supplemented shoulder-mounted missile launchers and sonic cannons-

Runner #1: {We need to speak with Shinshiro-taichou, immediately!}}

both Oni: {He is having tea. He is not to be disturbed.}

-one of the speaker trucks gets blasted away, the civilians cheering-

Runner #2: {{The hell with his tea! This is of the utmost importance!}}

-the first runner barges through the doors of the building, revealing its interior to be an aesthetic blend of traditional architecture and high technology. Shinshiro Kenji—an imposing man in a starkly-white hakama and haori—is sitting at a dais surrounded by numerous video screens, drinking tea. It is clear that this is the Rising Sun's command center and headquarters for the island of Mandinao-

Runner #1: -running up to the dais- {{Taichou-san, American aircraft are attacking! The island is in danger of being—}}

-a single flash of light glinting off steel is the only warning the runner has before Shinshiro's katana removes his head from his shoulders; the general is still drinking tea-

{{Your superior made the mistake of interrupting me during my tea, barging into my quarters without first removing his shoes, and failing to show me the proper respect.}} -the Samurai raises a single eyebrow as he turns to regard the second runner- {{Are you callous enough to make the same mistake?}}

-the second runner immediately bows, offering numerous appologies and removing his shoes; Shinshiro smiles-

{Very good, young man. Now sit down, have some tea, and explain the problem to me.}

"Starbird Flight, coming in for a low-level attack."

-Justice One and his flight pull up after having made the strafing run, and double back to start again-

-A flying transport silently drops off its cargo of elite commandoes. Ten men, from diverse nationalities, each a master in his own craft, united for a single goal, for one mission.-

(Three guesses as to who the ten people are. Hint: 9+1=10)

"Hey Justice, hope you left some Japs for us."

Starbird Flight crosses the shoreline and maintain a straight course towards the remaining artillery positions.

-Just out of sight, perched on a hill opposite with a clear view of the gate, a man crouches in a parch of grass. He is carefully calibrating the sights of a sniper rifle. He begins cheerfully humming to himself-

Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree... [BLAM]

-outside the gate, a shot takes the head off of the nearest human guard-

Merry, merry king of the bush is heee... [BLAM]

-another guard suddenly discovers he is missing a head-

Laugh, [BLAM] Kookaburra laugh, [BLAM] Kookaburra, gay your life must bee... [BLAM]

-The final shot takes the messenger's head off his shoulders as he dashes for cover. The man smiles and begins to move away, out of sight-

{...I see. So the gaijin believe that Mindanao will be an easy conquest, do they?}}

-Shinshiro rises to his full height of seven feet and walks over to a viewing screen displaying the water beneath Justice and Starbird flights. He presses a button, and a microphone zips into his hand-

{Begin Operation} Naginata no Izanagi.

-immediately the water beneath these fighters begins to churn, forming a massive whirlpool-

Ah, see? They're even putting a pretty little water display on for us! How sweet!

-from the heart of the swirling maelstrom shoots a massive spear with a strange, paddle-like blade. It pierces one, two, three of the ships in the allied squadron before any of the suddenly-bisected pilots can so much as blink, and it drops on the tail of Justice One, following doggedly. at the same time, Oni wearing heavy armour and jetpacks take to the air and engage the other fighters, blasting them with missiles and sonic pulse guns-

Aw, that's no fair!

-Justice One puts his craft into a steep dive-

"Uh boss, what's up with the water, looks like it's boiling..."

"That'll be one of the Japanese wizard tricks. Don't worry... Dry feet!"

Starbird Flight passes over the beach, dust trailing in their wake.

They pull up slightly on the final approach towards the artillery.

- atop a pyramid shaped airship off in the distance, a sun-glasses wearing General grins, watching the proceedings through binoculars-

???: I said I would return...

Guess.

-Shinshiro watches on the screw for a few moments more, smiling as the spear of Izanagi stays hot on Justice One's tail despite the gaijin's best efforts at evading it. He then turns and crosses the room to an ornate closet, which he opens to reveal what appears to be a set of powered armour styled after the Samurai of old. With practiced ease he dons the heavy suit, then turns and motions for his Oni guards-

{Come. If it is a fight these Allies wish, let us not keep them waiting.}
