Kagami Hiiragi, or Konata Izumi Mk II

They stood at the safety rail, staring at the sunset. They leaned closer to each other, the man putting his arm around the woman...

Suddenly Konata came up behind them and said "Hey, what about me?"

Edmond and Kagami turned. Kagami said (<in Japanese>), "<Sorry, Kona-chan, but your topic got locked. Edmond is with me now!>"

"<But that's not fair!>" Konata wailed, falling to her knees. "<Stupid haters.>"

Because he still doesn't know Japanese, Edmond Dantes pointed and asked "What's going on, now?"

"Give me a moment," Kagami answered in English. Then she came to sit beside Konata and said, in Japanese, "<why so upset? You didn't like him anyway.>"

"<But... but he was buying me manga!>"

"<That's not a solid foundation for a relationship. Anyway, you had your chance, you blew it.>" Kagami smiled, "<Guess some guys just prefer more mature women, right?>"

Edmond spoke up. "Hey, I can't really understand Japanese, but if she's upset over the whole thread-locking thing, I just want to point out that the current one is called 'Kagami Hiiragi, or Konata Izumi Mk II', which means it could swing both ways."

"Should you really be getting her hopes up, though?" Kagami asked. "I mean, likely the haters will just get it shut down again. I'm a tough girl, but I don't think Konata could survive the heartbreak again."

Konata had heard her name pronounced, but not knowing English was forced to wonder what they were talking about.

"It's not gonna happen," Edmond said. "Last time, my pride was my downfall. I should've just called in the Gods—err, I mean, the mods. But this time will be different! Just you wait and see!"

Edmond Dantes hugged both of them closely. They stood up together, and Edmond pointed and said "Come on, let's get back to enjoying that there sun!"

Konata thought, "<I have no idea what he said, but for some reason I feel really good right now>."

I'd like to repeat one part of the OP:

Heed that. I usually don't rely on the mods, but this time around I'm not gonna let haters ruin it for everyone. Believe it or not, there were people who actually enjoyed the old thread for what it was. This revival is for those people.

I've already sent a holler about post #3.

I'm pretty sure the only thing I said in this thread was "That's supposed to be a flame shield?"
