@L Mage: The Thom/Moiraine thing was implied before, but very subtly. Galad/Berelain was the one that was completely out of nowhere.

Perrin has always been the least interesting character out of the three boys for me, but I think To M improved his storyline. The Powerforging scene was fantastic, and I'm glad to see that he and Faile have finally, finally stopped with their idiotic bickering. It doesn't quite make up for the general lack of Rand, though, and I find Zen!Rand to be too much of Lews Therin and too little of actual Rand. That might change if we see more of his perspective in A Mo L, though. Curse the release date; I can't wait that long!

I think everyone agrees that Egwene is awesome, and the Way Forward ter'angreal is terrifying.

Galad/Berelain certainly came out of nowhere from the point of view of the characters involved, but that pairing's been a thing in-universe since Book 2, I think? Maybe Book 3? One of the early ones. That's the sort of thing that happens when there are multiple people running around who can see the future in some way.

And yes, one can be forgiven for not seeing Thom/Moraine coming, since one of the characters had been off-screen for over half the series. The main hint in the more recent books has been how Thom treats Moraine's last letter to him.

I'm bad, and that's good. I will never be good, and that's not bad. There's no one I'd rather be than me.

I think it was Min's viewing about "Berelain will lose her heart to a man in white" or something similar.

@Yuan: That was it. I found it in Lord of Chaos (so quite a bit later than I thought).

As for favorites, I think my preferences are going to seem a little...odd. My favorite character is Verin Mathwin. As for the rest of the list, in no particular order:

I've also really wanted to like Gawyn since his fight with Mat back in Book 3, but he spends so much of his time being stupid and useless that I just can't.

Well, I've picked up the first book of this series at the rec of a friend who will remain nameless HAI MAGE!! [waii]

Unfortunately, due to juggling between this and ASOIAF, progress will be slow. I'm a slow reader even at the best of times, and for some reason I was slower reading this

Hm....What did you think of the Prolog? It's one of the only insights we get into the Age Of Legends.

and the image of the Betrayer going "Shit!" and desperately teleporting out of there just before the place blew up made me smile for some reason

Wait, why did he purge Lews? Was it beause he KNEW he would go mad with grief and kill himself?

but the Betrayer seemed angry when Lews did that

Sort of, it was largely to make Lews suffer by making him realize what he had done. The Betrayer was frustrated because his goal was to make Lews feel such despair that he would turn to The Shadow. It didn't work, which is why he was pissed :P

The Forsaken have access to what they call "The True Power", it's a third neither male nor female power that only they can channel with the express permission of the Dark One. They don't use it often since it's about a million times more addicting then The One Power and dangerous to wield.

There are theories that it is the essence of the Dark One himself.

And the Dark One can't just win all this himself?

The Dark One is still trapped in his prison (by the Creator at the moment of Creation) and can't escape. He has to rely on touching The Pattern and influencing it's "threads" to try and escape.
