Not "Ba", "BA".
I'm bad, and that's good. I will never be good, and that's not bad. There's no one I'd rather be than me.Oh'
Nvm
"You are never taller then when standing up for yourself"I think it would be in your best interests to edit.
and it's very badly written, your point?
Not it's not, I've studied PTSD and Depression both, and the constant sense of hopelessness, the closing yourself off from others, the out bursts of sudden emotion, mostly rage and sadness, all of it is realistically written and portrayed. What marks the difference between Rand's struggle and Wangst is that Rand doesn't actually spend much time bemoaning his fate, instead he constantly fights to cope with and overcome it in a variety of ways, all of which fail due to lack of professional and well meaning help, until finally Rand just gives up and accepts his eminent death, which marks the lowest point in his struggle.
You want a freaking LIST? Mat getting frowned at for getting essentially raped? The constant refusals to work together, people running off on their own, consistently keeping secrets from people they should trust...Shall we go on?
re: Mat
This is actual real world phenomenon, we have trope about it, though I can't seem to find it right now.
re:Communication and working together
This is the central conflict of the series, and it's not unrealistic in fact if it weren't the constant exploitation of the lack of communication and team work this would be a damn good tactic: sending your strongest and most competent players to different areas to deal with different threats rather then focusing all your strength in once place while the world falls apart around it. The point however, of all the failure of communication and how much it hurts, is that simply talking things out can accomplish much more then all the fighting and struggling in the world. This is highlighted by the handful of instances where there is direct honest communication having massive and immediate payofffs.
Or the head of the Forsaken became a corrupt master of darkness because he was just oh so jealous. Heavy handed metaphors FTL
And jealously isn't a human motivation? What's more Demandred isn't the head of the Forsaken he's one of the bigger players sure, but not the head.

"You are never taller then when standing up for yourself"Damn, What does BA mean? I forgot! I read the books like a year or two ago, and I am to afraid to do a Archive Binge, just for an acronym.

Herald of the Literature Sub-Forum. Share me your favourite book/series/author!The entire Rape Is Okay When Its X family was renamed because it was deemed that it sounded like TV Tropes was okay with rape in certain situations. The bulk of them were renamed to some variant of Double Standard Rape X. See this Special Efforts thread.
Fight smart, not fair.Okay, how the hell did Fain manage to get to Baerlon so fast?
and now I've seen Min. I'm just gonna call her "The walking fountain of foreshadowing"
Above Rand she sees a HAX amount of power -_-

"Contests fought between two masters are decided instantly. An invisible battle is now raging between the two of them." Lulu vs Schneizel
Ah, I remember when I first met Min. I thought she was creepy as fuck.
What do you think of her various viewings Gingy?
"You are never taller then when standing up for yourself"All I was thinking during that scene was "Holy fuck, how does she know what symbols correspond to which people? There are SO MANY of them floating around, doesn't it get a bit crowded?"
and no, all I took from those symbols was "FORESHADOWING"
"Contests fought between two masters are decided instantly. An invisible battle is now raging between the two of them." Lulu vs SchneizelNow on page 277 of book 1.
I've gotten to the the part where the gang have escaped to Shagar Logoth.
Gotta say, so far the only characters I find interesting are Lan, Thom, Tam, and Ba'al
Oh, and if Rand's behaviour against the Whitecloaks is an early sin of his insanity, then I'm ALL the more sure that I'm gonna fucking hate him
"Contests fought between two masters are decided instantly. An invisible battle is now raging between the two of them." Lulu vs Schneizel
Ah...The interestingness.
And, what exactly are you referring to? I assume you mean the confrontation with the white cloaks in Baerlon, but Rand didn't really interact with them at all.
"You are never taller then when standing up for yourself"Earlier on, Mat caused a pile of barrels to splash mud all over the Whitecloaks. Rand laughs and they start questioning him. Rand suddenly seems to go into autopilot and starts insulting them/not responding to their questions. Rand also started feeling like he was eagerly waiting for SOMETHING to happen (even though he wasn't aware of what it was in the slightest)
When the Cloaks leave, Mat comes out and starts asking Rand if he's crazy. Rand snapped out of whatever trance he was in and suddenly became shaken by how he was acting.
It just felt VERY out of place

"Contests fought between two masters are decided instantly. An invisible battle is now raging between the two of them." Lulu vs Schneizel
Ah....
No, I didn't even remember that happened, don't take that as a indication of Rand's madness or such. With retrospect there is probably another completely separate explanation.
"You are never taller then when standing up for yourself"Either way, it wasn't endearing at all.
and what do you mean "Ah... the interestingness"?
"Contests fought between two masters are decided instantly. An invisible battle is now raging between the two of them." Lulu vs Schneizel
Your about to enter Shadar Logoth, which is one of the creepiest place in all literature :P, it's going to set up some of the major plot points for the entire series to come.

"You are never taller then when standing up for yourself"So this place. Better or worse than Trollocs and Halfmen?
"Contests fought between two masters are decided instantly. An invisible battle is now raging between the two of them." Lulu vs SchneizelWorse. Far far worse. This will all be explained in detail :P
"You are never taller then when standing up for yourself"Hence why they decided to go through it
"Contests fought between two masters are decided instantly. An invisible battle is now raging between the two of them." Lulu vs Schneizel
O.k now I'm confused what does Ba refer to exactly besides Ba'alzamon?
