I don't know about the strong sales part. Nintendo expressed disappointment with Pikmin 3's sales although that could be because of the bad sales for the Wii U in general.
That's the case, most likely. From what I understand Pikmin 3 sold well relative to the Wii U.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!I just assumed Pikmin was just too "obscure" a franchise to warrant a forth game. Also good point on the whole abandoning numbers thing. Once a movie gets its forth its forth instalment the inevitable "Well it is a sequel so it must suck," crops up.
Also new DLC is out tomorrow (I think)
Pity I'll be back at school then. Oh, well.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique! The DLC is good. Very, very good.
Ball bustingly hard to platinum, but good.
That's the second wave right? I wasn't too interested in the first round but if this adds entirely new stages I might have to pick it up.
First DLC was a series of collect treasure stages where the maps were changed around to make it harder (remixs) Second DLC was new battle enemy stages that used the main game levels as maps.
The third, or latest, DLC is the one that brings five new stages to battle enemies and five to collect treasure. They are the same stages each time, except modified to fit the goal.
Therefore if you are looking for completely new stages then get the latest update, the one with Alph's face on it. The others aren't bad though and they are cheap. Now Boss DLC?

What I want from Pikmin 4 is examination of the Wraiths. Give some background of where they came from, what they want...though they don't have to be AS hard as the Waterwraith and the Plasm Wraith. They could just be major bosses who aren't so frightening pursuing.
I don't know about that. Pikmin doesn't really seem the type to have incredibly in depth stories. I wouldn't want them to get too deep into that sort of thing although confirming the Umebouzu connection would be okay.
I do want a Pikmin 4 though. 3 strongly implies that there's another story to tell with its ending. I'm still wondering about what kinds of new Pikmin we can have. I remember as a kid I can up with ideas for green, cyan, and orange Pikmin but I don't remember what they were.
Playing the first game, and holy crap this is amazing. Seems ripe for high level play, what with all the time limit stuff.
ALL CREATURE WILL DIE AND ALL THE THINGS WILL BE BROKEN. THAT'S THE LAW OF SAMURAI.You know, you're one of the few people I've seen that likes the time limit. To a lot of people it made them feel rushed, which is why they removed it in 2 (don't let that dissuade you from playing 2, though!)
I like 1 and 2, because they play so very differently. That, to me, is a good thing about the Pikmin series; all three games stand as good, different games without any one making the previous games feel obsolete.
Though Pikmin 1 and 3's lack of some of 2's quality-of-life mechanics (Such as sorting Pikmin by leaf type) is a bit of a hassle.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!I didn't keep 1 because missing the deadline was really depressing for me...Olimar gets sucked into an onion and gets planted in the ground like a Pikmin for no one to pluck him? :p
My favorite was the second because I love that they dropped the deadline, added the Piklopedia and treasure hoard and put in the captains' notes.
Louie's such a gourmet.
As for 3, it was fun, but felt so much shorter. And you couldn't keep playing after you won. And after getting all the fruit there wasn't much reason to...
Also the challenge mode was hard. I prefer just taking my time running around throwing Pikmin on things...

Yeah, 3 was grand but it was missing a few things from 2. The Piklopedia, stuff to do after beating the game, several mechanics (The Pikmin AI Took a Level in Dumbass, I feel)...
Though I like 3's challenge mode better than 1 or 2's.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!I've been on a Pikmin binge. Cleared Pikmim 1 last weekend, and just finished 2 a few hours ago. I think I'll wait a bit before starting 3 again, though.
Though I do still need to get Platinum medals on a few of the DLC missions.
Also, apparently the gray and pink Candypop Buds do have names, but only in the Japanese guidebook: Slate Candypop Bud and Alizarin Candypop Bud, respectively.

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Which is why I miss the Piklopedia from Pikmin 2...Pikmin 3 seems so loose without more in-game cataloging.
Along with the the Treasure Hoard, the underground levels, all the upgrades...gathering all the fruit was fun, but when you do that and beat the final level you can't play any more days and can only play earlier days.
Was still fun though. Even if I didn't play it half as long as I played 2.
The Piklopedia was missed, yeah.
Also, I was sorta excited to hear there were 66 total fruits, then disappointed that there were only 30 different kinds, the other 33 were just repeats. And on top of that, there were two kinds of grapes and two kinds of kiwi. Would have liked to see pineapple, coconutnote , rambutan, blueberry, blackberry, ect.
The tomato, pepper, chestnut, and pumpkin from Pikmin 2 also failed to return, understandable though those cases are.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Finished Pikmin 2 today after realizing that my save data mysteriously disappeared. I've always wondered how Louie survived on the pikmin planet, able to apparently eat elaborate dishes of the planet's wildlife with NO kitchen appliances ( I can understand campfires, but still..). I still don't understand how he actually managed to eat anything considering that he'd have to remove his space helmet just to taste food and would have a limited amount of whatever breathing gas Hocotatians breathe (although there's no time limit).
Living The Fever DreamI hope Nintendo lives long enough for a Pikmin 4...
More Pikmin! More treasures! More catalogues! AND MORE TIME.
I never got their decision to put back the time limit. That was precisely the reason I never bought Pikmin 1.
I'm willing to bet that since Louie was abandoned YET AGAIN, he's going to be an important character in Pikmin 4.
Living The Fever DreamHow about for 4 they use all the captains except the President.
An idea: Hocotate and Koppai form an alliance gathering treasure and food for their respective planets. The story mode could be multiplayer and use Olimar, Louie, Alph, Brittany and Charlie with Olimar using the game pad. Or it could be singleplayer and gradually increase the number of captains on a single field. Though controlling four and five would be for later, possibly bonus levels.
Also, the Wraiths would have a lot more presence, but not like EVERYWHERE...just a few select boss battles.

How do others feel about the idea of a sidequest where you're helping the Pikmin build up an actual home? Like, they still have their onion, but the captains help them tame enough of the surroundings that they can bring seeds from the various powerup plants home and cultivate them so the Pikmin can avoid being eaten on their own.
Pikmin never seem like they need to stay alive...they'll "carry, fight, multiply, and then be eaten" and then the next generation will be born. They're just like living cells in a body.
Giving them a home seems too kind.
I'm in love with Pikmin 3 man. I'm starting my third playthrough right now. Does anyone else think that the first boss is ironically the hardest? I can never get a good pattern down for him.
Now's it's Shulk Time!
Pikmin 4 is certainly gonna happen, they've struck upon a strong, profitable IP and have no reason to discontinue it.
That being said, it might not be CALLED "Pikmin 4" (Most series have a tendency to ditch numbers once they become numerous enough to sabotage the game's sales through assumptions of Sequelitis or absurdity).
