Despite hating teeth yanking,that part of the song never bothered me.I was more bothered by the dentist's pleasure in ripping out those teeth.Managed to be freakier then the man eating plant.

Yeah, as far as I remember the song is basically to establish the dentist/boyfriend as a horrible person who it's okay to feed to the plant as the first step down the slippery slope.

It's interesting because in some ways it pre-emptively undercuts the stereotypical "nice guy" fantasy ("her boyfriend is a jerk, if I save her from him she'll realise she likes me more") - it only works out as long as he's obeying the florid Mephistopheles who first gave him the idea...
