You know that one where someone takes a cute/funny GIF and makes a comic giving it a detailed(and sometimes comically dramatic) backstory?

I kind of want that to become a bigger thing.

Personally, I'm a fan of Pop Sonnet. It's pretty dang impressive what they're able to churn out on a weekly basis.

For the songs I actually recognize, it's dang impressive how well they work, too.

I'm sorry, I guess I did it again. I wanted to respond to what Morven said about TER Fs. I'm sorry for making the topic off topic again.

Anyway, while I don't always agree with what people have to say about Social Justice on Tumblr. Whether it's about radical feminism or being transgender, or cultural appropriation or things like that. I think that social justice on tumblr deserves more respect and is a good thing. With so much of the internet that seems so racist and misogynist, it's really nice that tumblr has a culture that isn't part of that.

I missed everyone's posts here, if they were responding to me. I hope my post isn't too off topic.

I'm currently resisting making a response to what you've written, since I'm worried that it would lead this thing off topic again.

Frankly, I'm worried that given past results it's only a matter of time before this thread gets shut down anyway.

Personally - and I know this is kind of hypocritical of me to say this - but I think the best way to keep on topic is rather than continuing to apologize, explain, make excuses, and otherwise talk about how you don't want to be off-topic, you just drop the off-topic material like bunch of hot potatoes and actually move on rather than continuing to talk about moving on.

Amusingly, I find the gif at the bottom more entertaining than the comic.

The comic's not bad, mind you, the gif just has something the comic doesn't.

Given the blog, I'm not sure that's something to be proud of.

Can we just bring the inevitable shitstorm that will result from here instead, guys?

I don't spend enough time in the on-topic threads to be able to point people in the proper direction for something like that.

In any case, any thoughts on that Tumblr in general?

I love tumblr and a lot of its culture.

But I have a little bit of a hard time getting into things like tumblr and twitter. I keep trying and make new accounts. But then I leave them alone because it's hard to get into the habit of them.

Internet forums, though they can be mean and I want to avoid them and their meanness, are more interactive. There are conversations on tumblr but they don't seem to happen as often. Tumblr and Twitter seem to be about making your own personal spaces.

Like, a lot of it is sharing how you feel with the world. But a lot of the time it isn't a two way conversation. I start to get lonely and leave it and go to internet forums. It feels easier to talk about things on internet forums like these.

In some ways, I feel like Tumblr is kind of like Twitter if Twitter were a full blog instead of limited in how much you can write per post.

It may be why I've taken to using Tumblr while continuing to think that Twitter is stupid.

Twitter's SMS-based/inspired format is more suited for professional promotion and on personal quick updates to accompany a fuller-sized blog, say embedded on a sidebar. Tumblr's format that's closer to traditional blogs is better suited for proper blogging.

I find I enjoy a bit of tumblr and twitter and then really not enjoying the rest. What I find the worst is people can't seem to be civil, snarky and threatening, it's just uncalled for really.

Also, yeah that submission to that blog, yeah that was needed. It was an insensitive thing to say.
