Who here is excited to finally see Shizuri Mugino animated? I sure am.
Hm? I guess that'll be okay. I don't really like Mugino much after the end of WWIII but she had a pretty interesting fight against Mikoto.
Oh, speaking of Mikoto, has she met with Accelerator yet in the NT volumes? I have been wanting to see that for some time now.
Yes. She and Accelerator fought side by side in NT Vol 3.
Then I have something to look forward to so long as the author didn't forget they haven't seen each other since then.
Careful on the light novel spoilers, guys. I mean, that doesn't sound like anything worth getting worked up about, just a reminder.
You're going to be a bit disappointed then. It's not that he forgets entirely, but the interaction between them is... pretty underwhelming.

Actually, I kind of stalled before getting into the NT volumes. Othinus sounds like a crap villain and I heard things I don't really like about the third volume in general.
1st episode of Railgun S is out! OMG! Misaki is in this episode!
I don't think there's been a good villain in the entire series since Vento. Everyone else is too ridiculously overpowered to take seriously. And NT 3, despite its several flaws, was still fairly enjoyable.
My biggest problem with NT would probably be that I'm a firm believer in the fact that stories should end when they get to a logical endpoint, and the end of the original series was a very good time to end the story.
That, and the fact that NT 4 was an indefensible piece of garbage.

^ Well, I have to say that I'm completely uninvested in Touma's story arc at this point and I don't care about Shiage. That leaves me with only caring about Accelerator and Mikoto. I don't know about Accelerator, but I heard that Mikoto got shafted in the third novel, which makes me disinclined to continue. Even the villain seems like crap.

Personally I find it hard to care about Accelerator either. Which is I guess why I stopped reading the novels entirely.
I really like the Railgun manga though, because I feel like it tries to emphasize the parts of the setting that are interesting without getting bogged down in escalating tiers of invincibility.
Yeah. He's more interesting than Touma or Shiage, but not enough for me to continue reading the series just for him.
Fully in agreement there. The only reason I'm still keeping up with the novels is that I really don't like not finishing things. It takes a lot for me to consider something so bad that it's not worth continuing.
I was following the novels until nt3 and dropped it midway through there for a while because it was quite annoying the constant changes between places and characters. When I picked the novels back and finished nt3 I binged the from nt4 to nt6 and the last two are much better than nt3 and 4.
NT 4 also switch between characters but it is much better than nt3 (mostly because here it is divided better, is not constantly swapping and doesn't try to put the location and time with every switch), the thing that annoyed me most during the novel (where and what was Touma doing during most of the novel) is explained near the end but then Othinus appears and ruins the ending. Not that it is good, it feels like a try at a Darker and Edgier story that doesn't work well.
NT 5 and 6 is are more like the sport festival arc or the arc where Vento invades Academy city. And Thor is a cool guy, there is also Zobie Kakine and Beetle 05 which is interesting.
I forgot how much more the anime focused on Saten and Uiharu, which is odd because that's my main complaint against the thing. And now Haruue. Joy. What's worse is that this somehow made the Railgun anime popular.
Why are they showing the library confrontation now? Made me think they were going to skip the Sisters arc for a few minutes. Also, that scene at the end was trying way too hard to be cool.
Well, somebody PM me if you find a decent stream, otherwise I'm waiting for Funimation.
Why would someone think that Vol.22 would be a good place to end it? None of the mysteries of the series have been resolved yet, like Aleister's plan, or Touma and Accelerator's role in it. As for NT 3, that was my favourite NT volume. It really opened up an entirely new world for the series, and NT 4 followed up on that.
Speaking for the first ep of Railgun S, I wasn't expecting much since it was the first ep, but I was pleasantly surprised. A great episode all around.
As written, Volume 22 is not a stopping point, but that's only because the author is milking the series as much as he can by refusing to dole out any explanations in favor of just dropping more and more powerful bad guys into the story.
So you wanted Aleister's plan to just be revealed like that?
Plus, I don't get how people were surprised by Othinus appearing, we heard about magic gods from Vol.1, and Othinus's existence was mentioned years before she first appeared.

World War 3 would have been a good time for that, yeah. It could have at least moved things closer to a conclusion.
To each their own, I suppose. World War 3 seems way too premature for it to me.
It is not that she appeared, it is how she appeared and the fact that she is 13-14 years old. It also does not help that she stole the tittle from Ollerus and that Thor was going to be the leader of GREMLIM but Othinus got stronger faster than him.
Yeah, you have a point about all the unresolved plot issues. But, to be honest, it's not like I really lose much sleep worrying about what all the answers to all those questions are. Personally, it's not much of a problem for me.
And had the end of the series actually been written with the intention of ending the story instead of finding ways to continue it as long as possible, many of those questions could have been answered.
Failing the story actually ending there, something else I would have been OK with would have been trying something new with it. Maybe have Touma not come back as quickly as he did, focus on how Accelerator and Mikoto and all those other characters end up dealing with GREMLIN and Academy City. There were so many other options that could have been taken that weren't just diving right back into the exact same plot with an even more invincible enemy.
For me the problem is that the writing is horrible.
I love the settings. I like the characters. The plot is mediocre for about 2/3 of the arcs, but awesome for the other 1/3.
But the writing is horrible. Just terrible. Epic levels of terrible. I'm usually pretty generous with translated novels since translation tends to make some phrasing awkward and clunky, but this was obviously a problem with the original author.
I've read worse, but not many. So to me it's like crawling through broken glass for those few moments of awesomeness. Hard to keep on doing, so I have to take it in spurts.
I think it might be the place Kuroko and Saten were discussing in chapter 57. Something Uiharu found that Misaki wanted to keep hidden—presumably, that "Exterior" Kihara mentioned in the memory.
Definitely could have made that more clear, though. They should have cut down the bit with Touma to a page or two and used the leftover for a better explanation.
EDIT: Yeah, second to last page of chapter 57: She thinks about going there. Just one of those things that makes more sense read all at once.
