The general impression is that it's the mangaka who are ending each of the many series that have been finishing recently rather than the publishers.

I just finished the movie. I just can't find words to describe it but it's really funny, cute, sweet and heartwarming at the same time. It worth waiting 7 months( which led to bigger expectations that this movie lived up). I am excited after just finishing the movie so I may exaggerated a bit.

I wonder if the customers there all performed before they get to eat.

Yeah, not entirely realistic, but a fun movie.

Azu-nyan got really confused there about Yui for a bit. Good thing Yui is oblivious.

I wouldn't use that exact language to say it, but yes.

Although I did wonder why in the movie, at the sushi bar, Mio & Azusa stayed quiet. I guess they'd be a bit intimidated too, but at least they know English better than Yui & Ritsu. :/ (Mugi seemed all for it though, so I'm ignoring her.)

I can't believe I synced up the scene in the movie and in episode 24 of Azusa's song.

[up] [up] I guess they don't have much confidence in speaking English( or didn't understand owner's words and stayed quiet).

They seemed to get some decent english speakers for the movie. Wasn't bad.

Given what's been revealed about Mugi (through Sumire), I'm more surprised that they kept Mugi as English-deficient as she was in the movie. It made for a lot of cute Mugi moments though ("So fast!")...

Also found it funny how the movie made a cycle of the fan-favorite extras from their class (Ichigo! Himeko!) and even gave them more than a passing bit of dialogue.

I think it was because Yui and Ritsu had already failed and committed them to action, and then Mugi went and agreed with it, so now they'd have to oppose Mugi too. Mio at that point would be far too shy to handle it. Azusa might, but maybe she got a case of "let the senpai handle it".

The sushi cafe manager obviously mistook the girls for the legit band who were supposed to show up for the opening, and the language barrier guaranteed the girls not understanding what they were really approving until they were on-stage and couldn't do anything about it. I doubt the other customers had to sing to eat as well- they were just customers who walked in and ate. I am still surprised they wouldn't let them eat after the performance even if they didn't ask! They were hungry.

That sequence was, to me, the least believable in the film. This movie had the big challenge of putting naive high-school girls out of the neighborhood the viewers were only familiar with seeing them in, and avoid making it awkward. Even with a language barrier, a person with common sense would see that those girls are only high-schoolers with no professional training in music. They WERE carrying instruments into the cafe though, and to Englishmen and Americans, it's harder to tell the age of Asians by simply looking at them. If one side clearly had trouble understanding the other, a translator or a bilingual person in the building could've helped. There are more bilingual people in this world than even 10 years ago!

^ Well the band that was supposed to play were the same age as them =P. And the other customers having to sing to eat was a joke.

Yeah that was just Yui being naive Yui.

I was surprised the restaurant manager didn't pay them! Not even in food! Not that they would have accepted his money, I'm sure.

Didn't they play the Azusa song in the final episode of the anime? It's been a while, but I have definitely heard it.

Also, doesn't this make that OVA where they were planning their trip Retcon?

That baby was seriously cute.

And Azusa seriously thought Yui was going to rape her for a moment. What was that letter she was writing to Yui near the end...?

Yes, the last segment matches exactly with the last episode of the second season. And I don't think it's a retcon, as the girls have in-series mentioned the trip before: during their little visit to the review center (which I think is the extra episode, or episode 27), and that's set at around the right time too.

That's what I meant....I only saw that OVA once, but they were planning the trip already, and then they start planning it all over again in the movie.

Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.

The trip itself was completely anime exclusive I believe.

60% of S2 was anime-only. ^^; That said, those additions gave the series (and characters) a lot more charm (and poignancy) than the same events of the manga (the entirety of volumes 3 and 4).

Also the extras. Can't complain about the class extras like Mio's fangirls (Akiyo comes to mind), Ichigo, and Himeko (all of whom got more than a few lines in the movie).

[up][up]

It's because someone (I think Mio) brushed off the initial planning as a joke. If the girls hadn't heard it again from their classmates, the trip wouldn't have come up again in the first place.

Just noticed. The stage they play on with the tables put together in the classroom in the movie- It's the same stage that they sing the second opening song of season 2 on.
