Okay, so, I was thinking about giving Monks a pseudo-zodiac motifs. Originally it was going to be a straight up Chinese Zodiac motif, but I decided I could make a small reference to a lesser known manga series and use different animals. I don't want to use more animals because I want to keep the reference as strong as possible. I might give Rogues a more generic animal motif, I don't know yet.

The thing is, I don't know why but a flower/vegetal motif for monks also appeals to me. Do you think that's too much?

I personally prefer vaguer references and allusions, so I'd go with different animals

for example, in one of my stories (sci-fi one), there's a guy in a restaurant with a smart tattoo (can move around the body, go invisible, and the like) that takes the appearance of red markings branching out from his neck, and he's seen eating with a blonde girl with red cybernetic eyes

and in my vampire story, the main character, whenever his condition as a ghoul starts to affect him, red markings also come out from his neck, where he was first bitten, and his girlfriend is a vampire with, you guessed it, red eyes

are they the same people? no

are they obviously referencing each other? yes

is xanthosis an actual word? probably

...Forgot where I was going with this, but yeah, I'd do different animals. Probably similar animals so the reference isn't too vague, though

She kept kicking my legs so I gave her the finger. Gave me a WTF look before I got off the effing bus. I woke up pissed so I wanted someone else to know how I felt if something that little REALLY pissed me the eff off. So eff it. I didn't care. I don't now.
