Somebody mentioned earlier they skipped Thriller Bark. I can't imagine skipping an arc in a series like this. I mean, even in less...erm, "plot driven" long-runnin gshounen, an arc is seldom totally irrelevant. There will always be something that happened in it that matters. I don't care how bad a stretch of the story is, I'm gonna see it through to the end or just drop the whole thing. All or nothing for me.
Brook's backstory was beautiful in so many ways. One of those weird "so this is what art is" moments that you just feel in your gut and soul. I wonder if One Piece will be studied in some Japanese university in the future.
So what is the shipping scene like in OP? I only ever got any pairing vibes off Franky and Robin. But the ship tease is so nonexistent compared to the other Big 2 or Fairy Tail.
i anjoy Foxy filler. I hope he and his buddies keep reappearing for the rest of the series right up until Luffy is about to grab the One Piece only for FEFEFEFEFEFE and a Slow-Slow Beam.
Man, that guy whose Fairy Tail hate videos I watched is now showing up on my Recommendations. I bring it up because his video was about One Piece and if Haki ruined OP Fights. He an OP fanboy? I'm not watching it because probable spoilers and also I really don't like him. Haki seems like the only wway to make the world of One Piece work, though. If someone like Eneru could just pop up out of nowhere and you need someone who just happens to have the powers that nullify his, nothing could function at all, let alone a worldwide government.
I've heard the name before but I knew nothing about him. Holy shit, running into Rayleigh like this was awesome. A true oh shit moment. Right Hand Man to Gol D. Roger himself. And that was just the start of a nonstop stream of holy shit. So good. So many new characters, so much drama, so much awesome. I knew Kuma couldn't actually be killing all of them but I still cried a bit. It's really well-done.
But now that the ladies have finally all stopped trying to pull off Luffy's penis, I think now i s a good time to rest and post this.
It IS Being studied at universities!
Discord: Waido X 255#1372 If you cant contact me on TV Tropes do it here.I always liked how the English versions managed to preserve the kintama joke with the Amazons not knowing what Luffy's "family jewels" were. Also loved that Jane Jetson looking Amazon who kept taking notes.
So apparently Oda said that Wano won't be for another one to two years? Probably should keep that in mind for how much longer this arc is going to be, how long Reverie is probably going to be, and whether or not anything else somehow gets sandwiched in there.

Yeah, Kuma sending the Straw Hats away one by one is probably the most emotionally charged moment in the series for me. You just really feel Luffy's helplessness and pain at watching all of his hard work and all of his friends seemingly disintegrated before his eyes. Him feebly hitting the ground while bawling and curling into the fetal position is incredibly powerful imagery.
Ah yes, I've seen the thumbnail of that video, but I haven't made time to watch it yet.
If it goes anything like the usual haki debates, though, the premise is that once haki was formally introduced, battles would become "My haki is stronger than yours!" type of ordeals, ditching the interesting fight blocking and weakness exploitation from the arcs before it. As for whether or not that actually happened, I would half-heartedly disagree; the series does flirt with that idea a bit more than I'm comfortable with, but the consistent weirdness of devil fruit powers and other bizarre combat styles still does lead to interesting fight scenarios most of the time.

I don't get why "My Haki is stronger" is supposed to be something bad anyway. Haki strength seems directly correlated with strength in general anyway.
I mean, at some point exploiting fruit weakness can get a bit ridiculous.
Secret SignatureThat is true.
But I'm wondering if we'll see someone without Haki beat someone with it.
That would really show that Haki isn't the end all or be all, and that anyone can win under the right circumstances or strategy.
One Strip! One Strip! Some fans in general have an issue with fights deciding with power and Haki just made it more apparent that One Piece is Not So Different when it comes to using strength to decide fights. Because I know that's something a lot of fans use to prop up OP, even though strength was still a huge part of fights before Haki was even a thing.
That said, as someone who has no problem with strength being a big part, or even the biggest part, of deciding fights I do think the way they do "my Haki is stronger than yours" is usually pretty obnoxious and boring.
Also hardening gets old after a while
Secret SignatureDid I make a boner?
Secret SignatureAnd now you're doing it on purpose.
Anyway, getting back to topic, as someone who's complained about exactly what Saiga has brought up, I can attest that there are those who dislike power being the thing that decides all fights.
Now, don't get me wrong: power is important. I've come to understand that after years of dragon ball, and many times, the bigger, stronger dude is gonna win period. That's often how it goes in real life.
That being said, this isn't real life, and one of the funnest things about fights in One Piece is how crazy the fighting can get. I'm hoping Oda doesn't tie himself down by making Haki the end all and be all for victory. In other words, I don't want him to centralize things too much.
But I'm sure that won't happen. This a guy who purposely gave his hero the silliest power imaginable to keep one humorous element in the story, so I'm gonna have faith as long as he doesn't completely botch it. There have been some slips, but nothing so bad as to make him Mashima or Kishimoto to me.
One Strip! One Strip!Eh, Luffy's level of rubberness isn't that silly yet. Needs to Awaken into Plastic Man first.
Secret SignatureAlso, don't really want any details, but do we ever see the Supernovas who got beaten by Kizaru again? Drake seemed like he'd be important and I liked Hawkins. Fortune telling is good and always the sign of a character I'll like. Pretty bland name though which makes me think he and the rest might have just been fodder to show us Kizaru ain't nobody to fuck with.
Yes, they all appear later.
Oh yes, we see all the Supernovas again, don't worry. One of them in particular becomes quite important to both the Straw Hats' story and the overall Myth Arc.
I mean, that one does become a lot more prominent, but not really for the Myth Arc.

The only Nova with a bland name is Killer.
All the Nova's except him are named after famous real-life pirates & such.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."I knew Kidd was at least a real pirate but real life people can have bland names. In a series with Monkey D. Luffy, Basil Hawkins just sounds kinda lame.
Hi Basil, my name is Portgas and this is Silvers and Fuckin' Gol D.
Gold?
No, Gol D.
Or is it Gold? I've seen it both ways
But I'm glad they all show up again.

I personally prefer the ones that sound like actual names over ones like Luffy's, but that's just me.
There's actually a website that lists each piece of BGM that plays in each episode along with the track itself. For translations of the official titles you're going to have to look at the fan wiki or vgmdb.com (or just translate them yourself like I had to in places).
