Don't miss something that never existed.
I don't remeber anything that ever implied Awakening was Zoan-exclusive.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."I know it was an assumption, but it kept the can of worms sealed for about 200-ish chapters before Doffy opened it up on Dressrosa. If not for the fact that the first four awakened fruits we saw were the four Jailer Beasts, who were all Zoans with a consistent awakened effect, we could've been arguing about what awakening meant for the last eight years. Think about that for a second.
Considering Zoans tend to be the weakest fruit, it being counted for Logia and Paramecia isn't too surprising.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.It was a reasonable assumption, given that the specifics we were given could only work with zoans and it had no features that would fit Paramecia or Logia.
Awakened Paramecias currently share nothing beyond the name. I'm fairly sure a common link will be established once we find out more about them, but currently they feel totally different.
We hear from Doflamingo that Awakened Paramecia allow the user to extend their power beyond their body and affect the surrounding environment. Based on the guards, we can infer that Awakened Zoan are a whole new transformation that has immense size, strength, durability, as well as a possible healing factor.
I have to wonder what are the specifics of Awakened Logia. Does it allow you to manipulate natural souces of your element? If so, that's a really lame and underwhelming power-up. Maybe it allows you to make a LOT MORE of whatever your element is, but that wouldn't be that different from the norm.
I'd assume it lets you mess with the environment too. See Punk Hazard.
Secret SignatureI know this a loose connection but I thought people would like to see how mochi is made.
Why isn't Luffy just eating his opponent, again?
The sad, REAL American dichotomyBecause Katakuri is smarter than his brother.
Also Luffy doesn't have any back up this time.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."I would think Katakuri would respond to any devouring attempts from Luffy by using his mochi to choke him to death.
Question: Awakening aside, how much control over his mochi has Katakuri demonstrated once it's separated from his body?
Outside of the earplugs, which were just inert lumps, I can't offhand think of anything he did with his mochi that involved using it apart form his body. Most of what I can think of has been tanking attacks or imitating Luffy.

He clogged all of Bege's cannons seemingly at once.
But was that a result of controlling it separately or just accurately firing it off himself?
Likely the latter. He did pull himself back together though after Ichiji punched him
The main reason I ask is because of the earlier post that Katakuri would choke Luffy on his mochi and it made me think "Could he actually do that?"
I brought up the choking because a friend of my parents lost someone close that way; they had choked to death on mochi, from what I heard.
I think if Katakuri tried something like that, it'd probably consist of turning his entire arm into mochi then ramming it down someone's throat.

I wouldn't be surprised if he actually does that.
Actually he could do that if he found out how Luffy defeated Cracker & becomes infuriated at how his beloved brother was defeated by such an absurd situation.
I'd think it go like "So you like to eat? Then choke on this."
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."
I can imagine he would so do that to get back at Luffy for defeating him that way.
It's not like they don't already know Luffy and Nami beat Cracker. Big Mom sent that huge squad and thunderstorm to vapture them, remember?
"Vapture" is a word I never knew I wanted to exist until now. I imagine its definition being "to catch and vaporize someone."
Joking aside, I don't think they know the exact details on how Cracker was defeated, and I suspect it doesn't really matter too much to them at this point.

Yeah but they don't know how he lost.
There is something particularly humiliating from losing due to your opponent actually eating your weapons even if they are edible. Cracker was practically fuming at how ridiculously stupid the whole situation was.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Katakuri does not seem like the type to care about something like that to me. He's already planning to kill Luffy; the exact details don't really matter at this point.
Seeing as the Big Mom Pirates Devil fruit theme seems to be Heart Is an Awesome Power Paramecias, I wonder if there'll be more themed pirates in the other Yonko crews. Aside merely, food themed or animal themed.
Kaido: Boring, but Practical Zoans?
Blackbeard: Awesome, but Impractical and/or Difficult, but Awesome fruits?
Shanks: No idea, but considering the Red Hair Pirates seemed to be presented as the ideal positive freedom loving side of piracy I'm genuinely curious to see what they can do

So far the red hair pirates seem to be a crew of Badass Normals.
You lost!
Eh, even then that was just an assumption and not something explicitly stated. It not being Zoan-exlusive makes more sense to me.
