It's taking so long to escape because they're being chased by a crazy Emperor who's convinced they have cake on them and she's proving to be a relentless pursuer. Obviously.

Yeah, this escape was not supposed to be easy.

Well, Yonkos like her are usually crazy or homicidal maniacs.

Still suspecting that the cake won't end up as a bribe for Big Mom, but a power-up for Luffy. There's a Straw Hat who can counter each of her gimmicks (Nami for Zeus, Jinbe for Prometheus, Brook for the Homies, and everyone else to hold her human minions back), so that brings it down to a simple contest of strength, and Luffy tends to have pretty good luck with those.

He couldn't do anything to her even with Gear 4th. If Sanji's cooking could do something like that it just creates the giant question of why he hasn't been constantly feeding that to everyone after they meet up after the time-skip.

Mhm. Even the mega attack from Zeus didn't do anything. The cake somehow giving Luffy the ability to hurt her would be pretty far out of left field. Plus, y'know, once they make the cake, they can just shove it in her face and scidaddle rather than committing to a risky fight where they don't stand anything in particular to gain- like even if they somehow manage to beat Big Mom, she's hardly gonna stop being an emperor.

Also Nami's out of resources to bribe Zeus with and they don't have any kind of counter for Napoleon.

Zeus has no regrets about briefly betraying Big Mom for a while.

And then, out of nowhere, Dragon appears!

The day is saved.

I don't think even daddy could save him this time. Big Mom is a monster, and even he would have trouble subduing her.

Beating Big Mom is something that should be saved for the Elbaf arc.

It will be a feat for the ages.

No one said getting away should be easy but that's not the same thing as saying he's padding things out by making them unnecessarily complicated.

This last chapter would put away that notion that Big Mom is turning into a joke.

What notion that Big Mom is turning into a joke? And why are you so obsessed with going on about how strong she is?

From other reactions seen in the last chapter, people were hollering up and down about Nami taking control of Zeus and thought that Big Mom was turning into a joke.

Those are not the same thing.

I still don't think this is really padding, and that this cake will be the greatest moment in Sanji's feats. It would really show to his father how cooking can actually be such a useful profession.

I don't think his daddy would be around to see it though. If his daddy was smart, he and the rest of the Germa 66 would be hauling their ass away from Whole Cake Island as fast as they can.

I think we conclusively proved a few pages back or so that Judge is not smart. At least not outside his area of expertise.

That said, it was said a while ago that the Big Mom pirates have Germa under siege, so they may still be close by even if mobile.

With him knocked out, the rest of the Vinsmoke siblings will have to retreat because after seeing Big Mom demolish them all they have to get their butts out of dodge.

I still think in spirit that what Sanji is going to do would be a poke in the eye of Judge's lowly view on cooks.

Load up the cake with the poison they were going to shoot her with?

Wouldn't work.

It wouldn't be a poor idea, but she's probably just get a slight stomach ache at worse.

They were too quick to assume that poison would kill her anyway.

They'd need enough poison to wipe out the entire planet for it to have any effect on her.
