It just shows you can get a fruit that just doesn't match your personality or calling at all. Someone in the Revolutionaries could probably make great use of Kin'emon's neglected fruit.
Given that it's a tanuki shapeshifting reference fruit, it is probably capable of more than just clothing, but Kin'emon fails at utilizing it's potential.
And on the other hand, we have a New World fruit user with powers that are half the abilities of a low-rank Baroque Works officer.
So don't blame the fruit, blame the user.
Who are you talking about?
The sad, REAL American dichotomyMachvise and Miss Valentine.
Machvise is just flat out stronger but jumps under regular physical prowess rather than reducing his weight with the fruit.
His upper limit is also 1000x Valentine's.
Secret SignatureThere have been a lot of recycled fruits, or even "the same but better" fruits.
Explosions and implosions. Poison and gas. Ice and snow. More recently, Gear Fourth and Bellamy's thing.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyThere is at least some difference between all those fruits that you mentioned.
Machvise's ability is so copy and paste that it hasn't even been named.
ยฟ?ยก!I'm not saying they're all the exact same, and I don't think you're suggesting that I am. There's just a lot of overlap in abilities.
I forgot who Machvise was, despite his cool name, because so many of the characters and events this arc have been forgettable. And there have been too many characters this arc.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyTo be fair, some fruits are varations of the same model so some overlap is expected.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.I find it kind of funny how I was always one of the people who was really up on pre-timeskip One Piece and now I'm one who isn't so down on post-timeskip One Piece.
Not to say that anyone is trashing or dislikes it now but it's just curious.
Honestly I don't see that much difference in quality. One Piece's quality has always been the same to me except for the things leading up to the crew breaking up to the end of Marineford which is by far better than anything that's happened in the series before or after, I think.
I can see good things coming, myself, and this arc had some awesome moments, the problem is pacing and narrative complexity. Hopefully the next arc (after giving the Sunny Group their missed spotlight moment) keeps the crew together and is more adventure-oriented instead of warlike.
It disappoints me how circle-jerky the Serial Escalation entry for One Piece is.
So I'm a writer...Yea, I wouldn't say this arc is horrible or anything, I just feel its lower quality than before. One Piece is always at its best when its just a simple adventure story not this complex war story about politics that it seems to be trying to make in every arc.
You need extremely intelligent and quality writing to pull that off successfully and no offense to Oda, but its really not his forte.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Well,it's nearing it's end.Probably when the next break comes.
Secret SignatureHmm? I suppose that it doesn't say much about the series (although I like the part about Zoro).
Oh God! Natural light!I read the latest month's worth of chapters, and was actually decently excited through it. It does seem like it's dragging, but you have a sense similar to the end of the Skypia Arc: Luffy's got to get this or everybody dies.
Makes me wonder why the remaining Donquixote Family members haven't revolted. I don't think they get that everyone who isn't Doffy is on the chopping block here.
I wonder if Burgess knows a way out?
How is Doffy going to survive the Birdcage?
ยฟ?ยก!It's not like he can't stop it whenever he wants.
Haha Heavy's post reminded me about back in AP Forums, when I was hanging around the Other Manga/Anime section more often than now ('round 2011-2012), when posters would hold up Hx H as the "shounen manga so good - even better than OP!"
And now... (WARNING:POTENTIAL SPOILERS)
It should be noted that Vise's fruit is based on Tons while Valintine's is Kilograms. She can make herself super light or pretty damn heavy. Vise is always at least one Ton and is limited to being Super Heavy.
Somebody call for me?
I'm pretty sure the concept of Law having limits was a translation error. -WanderlustwarriorThe effect is ultimately the same, and the Kilo Kilo no Mi introduced earlier can decrease her weight as well.
ยฟ?ยก!Exactly. It seems like the Kilo Kilo Fruit has the advantage of being able to become very light AND very heavy, while Machvise's can only be heavy, but he can be really, really heavy.
It's an ultimately minor variation though and feels more like Oda just didn't know how to come up with a unique power immediately. Honestly considering Machvise was ultimately pointless and contributed nothing, I don't see why they even had to say he had a Devil Fruit, he could have just been....... a really big, fat guy. That can jump.
I'm pretty sure the concept of Law having limits was a translation error. -WanderlustwarriorI'd be able to appreciate the difference more if the more interesting version hadn't been the first seen. That sort of kills it for me, I'm not as interested in seeing a version that does half that job and does that half The Same But More.
... I forgot kinnnemon had a fruit...
