Yu-Gi-Oh! The Abridged Series

I've heard that one's actually pretty good? It sounds interesting, at least.

I recall Little Kuriboh praising it on Twitter. He said it was the best Yu-Gi-Oh series since the original.

What gets me is that Arc-V screwed up the Yugioh cosmology with all these other dimensions. It seems to be in the same continuity as Zexal, which is probably the Xyz dimension, but what about classic/GX/5d's? Are they the Synchro dimension, or are they just in their own continuity?

From what little I've read, it sounds to me that everything is still in the same main timeline, and these alternate universes use this "prime timeline" as some sort of template. Is that right?

I just might have to check it out sometime. Probably the sub, though. Who's doing the dub?

All I know is in Arc-V, there are different dimensions for Fusions, Synchros, and Xyzs. In the future of the original/GX/5d's timeline, the world became obsessed with Synchro monsters, which attracted the attention of the Machine Emperors / Meklords. Zexal, meanwhile, clearly has a society where Xyzs are more prominent. And given the Arc-V Synchro dimension has D-Wheels, whereas we haven't seen them in Zexal or the other Arc-V dimensions, it seems to me the classic/GX/5d's timeline is in the Synchro dimension.

Arc V takes place in its own universe. The only thing you could sort of wank is that it also takes place in Zezzle universe. The original 3 are their own thing.

LK praised it? Now I feel I might pick it up again. I was pretty interested from the beginning but around 15 episodes in the filler duels started and it was awful.

well one filler duel (16/17) introduces a minor recurring background character

The thing is just because they share a name doesn't really mean anything. Yeah, it's clear the writers want us to be like "THAT'S ZEZZLE WORLD!!!!" but they're using Arc-V-style duel disks, as opposed to D-gazers and we've seen nobody from Zezzle there.

I mean, it could be the same place, but don't cry foul if it isn't. That's all I'm saying, really.

Didn't a crumbled and decayed version of the Heartland Tower thingy make a cameo, too? It could just be the future of the Zexal world. I mean, I guess we won't know for sure until Word of God says one way or the other, or there's another crossover special, or Arc-V does something to massively contradict Zexal. Just seems to me that the writers are trying to imply the Xyz dimension is the Zexal universe.

On the other hand, I'm pretty sure the Fusion Dimension is meant as an alternate version of GX, so... Actually, it could be that the dimensions are all alternate timelines of the same base dimension, which would explain all the alternate Yuyas and stuff... and also make everything even more convoluted.

Yeah, but for most people, that's where it really picks up.

I might give it a go soon, but I've still got to do a lot of other stuff, including catching up on all of the Discworld books I have...

I enjoyed it! As someone who doesn't watch Yu Gi Oh, I still found it hilarious. I'm sure you'll all have more to say about it.

I don't know who played the 'villain of the episode', but whoever it was sounded really cool.
