And Viacom doesn't want to risk their bottom line by pushing too far out of the ghetto. Therefore: cowards.

@ Ruise: I know that, but I was wondering (due to the repeat aired last week) if something was up.

Could someone please explain to me how appealing to more than one demographic would ever be considered undesirable?

I remember the Sponge has lost one year for favorite cartoon and it was to Avatar. It was kind of a big deal. I strongly feel that the show ended at the movie, and everything else has been Sponge Bob's crazy dream. When the show finally dies he'll wake up to his new manager job at the Krusty Krab and go back to being lovable, charming, and funny.

Speaking of the Sponge, Bryke complained about the UP NEXT laughing Spongebob during And The Winner Is.. that spawned a meme. It shouldn't be happening again.

[up][up][up] Nick is weird about demographics. It's what got Invader Zim canceled. It was popular, just not with the right demographic. See Avatar was popular with an older demographic than intended so it got some rough treatment as a result from the network. I think the only reason it didn't get canceled is because they alright promised 3 seasons or it was just popular enough with the intended demographic.

[up][up][up][up] It isn't, but by reaching out to another, new demo, they risk alienating their base. Alienating your base viewership is a fantastic to go out of business.

[up] That makes sense. It seems to me though Nick seems to have a lot more pre-teen stuff these days than actual kid programming anyway. Well except for around the timeslot Korra airs I guess.

I really hope they change the timeslot next season.

Actually, Multiple Demographic Appeal can be undesirable from an advertising standpoint. If you have too many demographics tuning in, then you can't effectively target the ads to the majority of viewers. While it may seem rather dumb to us, those ads are what keep networks in business, so they don't want to prioritize shows that advertisers are less likely to pay to put ads on.

@ Makai: Which makes sense. Unfortunately, Nick was the only station that didn't premiere anything that weekend (as opposed to Disney XD and CN's DC Nation block), which is why I thought something was up.

thread hop: can't wait for the ep this week. I saw a teaser clip of Korra and Tenzin talking about how they've ignored airbending for how much ever time. Hahaha lol what's an airbending...

So I believe thread hopping has made you unaware of our policy on spoilers. We spoiler tag everything from the preview clips until the episode itself airs. It's really rude to talk about it in the open where those like me who HATE getting spoiled can see them.

Byakugan: If your definition of "ignoring" is equal to "Korra has been seen practicing in her spare time but still can't summon a gust of wind", then yeah. Otherwise, it's a little like how Aang spent a bunch of time performing all the earthbending forms but couldn't even move a rock till the end of the episode. Only this has taken months rather than days.
