We all know that the Disney Channel today is, to say the least, controversial. A large part of that comes from the movies and shows they air, but are there any Disney Channel Original Movies you actually like to some extent? For me, I like

  • Halloween Town , the first one
  • Smart House (shut up)
  • Zenon, the first one
  • Twitches
  • Some movie about a Hawaiian girl whose mother died in a surfing accident and likes to take pictures
  • Lizzie Mc Guire The Movie (can't remember if it played in theaters, but it's based on a Disney Channel show)

Smart House, Up up And Away, and the Halloween Town movie series (Yes, even Halloween Town high which was the weakest of the three.).

Under Wraps, at least I'm pretty sure that's what it was called. When I saw it, it was so good that I honestly thought it was a theatrically released movie that Disney Channel was just airing, but no, the movie is apparently one of the earliest Disney Channel Original Movies(like, the second or third one ever made).

The TV remake of Freaky Friday, and Halloween Town, though I haven't seen the third or fourth one.

But then these are also the only ones I think I've seen.

Under Wraps was pretty awesome. (That was the one about the mummy who rises from the dead right?)

I also liked Eve (I think that's what it was called. Tyra Banks played a living barbie doll owned by Lindsey Lohan.), Smart House, The Color of Friendship, and Tiger Cruise.

Zenon was definitely fun. Pixel Perfect is a major Guilty Pleasure of mine, too.

^ Life Size, thank you. It's the one time I've actually liked Tyra Banks.

I'm sad they don't air Tiger Cruise or The Color of Friendship too often anymore. They're easily Disney Channel's most touching films.

I wish I could say Cool Runnings but that wasn't a Disney Channel movie.

Zenon was okay.

My alltime favorite is Alley Cats Strike. ...don't look at me like that!

Overall I liked more Disney Original movies than I hated. (No love for Quintz or Stuck in the Suburbs).

I'm trying not to get my hopes up too high for Avalon High next month.

I liked the first 3 Halloweentown movies. The last one I hated because they replaced Marnie with a more conventionally pretty girl. I liked Marnie because she looked like someone you would see on the street(as opposed to Miley Cyrus or something). I also liked Zenon.

Me too. I loved the book, but I was disapointed to see they casted a random black guy as Lance. Lance is a blond white guy in the book! Stick to the cannon damnit!

[up]That's not where my concerns are. I don't read the books, I just recognize four actors (and like three of them). I don't want my admiration for the actors I like to cloud my memory of how often Disney makes bad flicks.

Changing the hair/eye color of race that is set as canon doesn't bug me unless the character's race has a huge effect on their character. (Hair/Eye NEVER is an issue unless the set canon colors are there to be specific. Like red eyes or something.)

The Lizzie Mc Guire movie was released in theaters (I remember going to see it when I was 16)

Anyway, my picks are:

  • Twitches
  • The first and second Halloweentown movies
  • The Color of Friendship
  • Smart House
  • Brink!
  • Up Up and Away

Of the current stuf, I find Aaron Stone quasi-acceptable, mostly because of the bald robot guy.

No love for Don't Look Under the Bed and Stepsister From Planet Weird? Those are definitely my favorites. DLUTB was clearly going for a Tim Burton-esque thing, and SFPW was just so freakin' quirky. I gotta agree Under Wraps is pretty good. I think most of the earlier DCOMs were at least decent. The Thirteenth Year wasn't great but I'm a sucker for anything involving mermaids. The idea certainly has potential.
