That's not even a spoiler; Palaces and 4's Dungeons are similar in that they're both born from the subconscious of the people they represent. The biggest difference however is that Palaces are born from the distorted desires of the individual, while 4's Dungeons are born from their own repressed emotions.
I guess it's easier to say 5 takes the logical conclusion of things that 4 glossed over. Mainly, what would happen if you saw inside the subconscious of truly vile and amoral individuals as opposed to a bunch of teenagers trying to deal with their own insecurities.
It also shows how completely destroying a shadow influences their counterpart in reality as well :V
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does. From a gameplay perspective, palaces are a bit different, due to having a specific time open, and will not be available when you get past that time slot. Persona 4 dungeons are always available.
If everyone were normal, the world would be a dull place. Like reality television. That's more the nature of the Midnight Channel
But yeah, 5 is basically the logical conclusion of concepts in 4
Thinking it over, aren't a lot of the nasties spewed forth by the collective unconsciousness all more or less formed by the same idea? "It's easier this way"
Song of the SirensSMT really likes that concept of how cyclical humanity is with also Persona about how painful living is.
Even the spinoffs get in on it. Dancing All Night's villain was all about how it's too hard to form a non-superficial connection.
The Qliphoth in 5 reminded me of Magatsu Inaba, for what it's worth.
And the Shadows may be awful individuals, but really there wasn't much difference aesthetically between the Palaces and 4's dungeons. Like, apart from the naked lady statues, Kamoshida's Castle is more or less identical to Yukiko's.
Song of the SirensI was watching a Persona 4 LP the other day and was like, "Magatsu Inaba makes me think of a proto-Mementos."
Eating a Vanilluxe will give you frostbite.Yea, Adachi and Magatsu Inaba is more or less a precursor to what Palaces would be like in 5. That's a nice touch.

A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.I feel like that's not a new thing either.
During the Answer, we discover that Persona's and Shadows are one and the same, something we see more of in 4, with the characters naturally taming their shadows (with a little help of course).
In fact, I'm trying to figure out if there's anything in 5 that's aluded to near the end that might be expanded upon in the next game. I'm thinking the concept of a full on evil Wild Card, who can also swap personas. Akechi's nature left him unable to fully tap his potential, but if someone were somehow able to be a evil dick, but still make friends...
[MOD NOTE: Please be mindful of spoilers, especially for new games. The spoiler has been tagged for you.]

"Curry killed the pussy hoping that I could kill the hate in you" - Curry, D. "TABOO | TA13OO." TA13OO, PH, 2018...Shit. I'm sorry. I think the topic made me forget for a moment that this was the main thread and not the spoiler thread.
I screwed up. Again, I'm really sorry.
One Strip! One Strip! So I finally completed beat P 3 P, and... I feel as though my emotions have been purged.
It's the same feeling I had when I first beat FES in 2010... all of a sudden after 70+ hours of playing as someone you're forced to let go afterwards.
Somehow, it feels even more poignant after seeing it happen to Minako. Probably because she reminds me of someone I used to know back in high school, which makes the feeling worse for me.
But you know what? Now I really want to see the two P3 protagonists get a chance to meet in some Updated Re-release or Crisis Crossover. I think they'd become good friends.
PERSONA 3: WHEN GENDERS COLLIDE

I mean, it wouldn't be any crazier than PQ.
In all seriousness, I was thinking more along the lines of the MC you didn't choose making a cameo near the end of the story, visiting from outside Iwatodai. They'd strike up some friendly conversation with your MC, talking about some "strange dreams" they had involving you, before leaving back home. They would also be subconsciously aware of what's going to happen to you, and express some concern for you and hope that you stay strong.

RPGsite talks about where series can go after P5
Be-aware, there are minor spoilers for P5 presented. So tread at your own risk.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does. They should have given Fe MC a cameo on Persona Q.
A Bonus Boss fight would have been cool.
Huh good article, I agree with several points made.
Better pace the calendar system so things don't slog so much especially if you quickly finish a dungeon & then have to wait over a week for something that can be easily done to happen. Better intertwine social links with the main story & others especially in regards to romance. Change character comments & interactions depending on how much you got done. Diversify your teammates more, even make some of them antagonistic to each other with varied viewpoints to create a more interesting & dysfunctional team dynamic.
A lot of possibilities open for next time.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."You keep saying that without actually explaining why, and more ever you keep assuming he'll magically come back to life anyway.
I think Atlus just isn't committed to the idea one way or the other. They set up a way to remove the seal without dooming everyone and then had Elizabeth begin a journey to do so, but they haven't really focused on it at any point. And they might be satisfied with just having her try. Or maybe she'll succeed five hundred years from now and Minato can finally rest in peace or move on or reincarnate or however that works.
Whoops, the discussion I was replying to was actually in the P5 thread!
Yes, it is especially clear when you get to the 4th palace.
