Would of made his character a little more palatable if being gay or bi was part of why he was such a shit to Kanji.
Yosuke being gay... Actually makes sense.
You see, a recent study shows that most homophobes are actually closeted gays. Given how much shit he gives Kanji... It's an interesting thought.
If so that would mean Yosuke is Bi.
He definitely seems in the closet about the MC.
I don't do a lot of yaoi ships, but Yu x Yosuke is one of the few that I ship.
Not much for Yaoi, but it would make sense.
It's clear that even if the idea was ultimately dropped, a lot of implications about it were still left in story.
One Strip! One Strip!Or, OORR, they're like best buds with no romantic implications.
I know, I know, it seems crazy.

"There's not a girl alive who wouldn't be happy being called cute." ~Tamamo-no-MaeI am also good with that. Not much of a shipper anyways.
I mean, I don't see how they're mutually exclusive.
I sure said that!I'd prefer the good friends route too.
I did say I'm not much of a Yaoi shipper (not much of a shipper at all unless it's Yuri and even then, I'm not particularly serious about it).
But I won't ignore the implications. I'll prefer my own interpretation, but I won't pretend it's not there at all.
One Strip! One Strip! What Pulse said.
It's likely Yosuke might have been the Jun of this game.
That's really shitting on Jun to say
-actually really likes Yosuke-
I really don't see any similarities to Jun.
Also, Yosuke is so best character.
"There's not a girl alive who wouldn't be happy being called cute." ~Tamamo-no-MaeI'm not opposed to the idea of bi!Yosuke, but...how would you even study that?
Oh God! Natural light!Yay I got a conversation stared. Keep it up.
I don't think you really could do a formal study per say, but there is some merit that extreme homophobes might just be in denial of their sexuality due to pressure of societal norms.
though I highly doubt the "most" part.
but I never saw Yosuke as homophobic in any way, though he did pick at Kanji a bit.
NEVER *nukes thread*

"There's not a girl alive who wouldn't be happy being called cute." ~Tamamo-no-MaeGot the True End and Epilogue for Golden. All these happy feels...
Until I remember Persona 2. Tears
It's gonna take a while to get over that. Started Persona 1, remake music sounds good. Looks like ass and I can't move the camera?!
I recall hearing of a study where tolerant straight men and homophobes were shown gay porn and the homophobes were more aroused.
They were trying so hard to avoid being the thing they hate, they ended up doing the opposite lol
It's less that he seems to be repulsed by homosexuality in general so much as he is to another man finding him attractive, though that doesn't clear the waters at all.
And he's pretty happy if Yu says he'd most like to date him when sitting on the girls' side at the Group Date Cafe...
So yeah, nothing concrete to show for it but I absolutely get where it comes from.
I sure said that!As long as we're on the subject, there's a fangame out now to let you live the dream of dating Yosuke, Kanji, or the Strength guys.
I'm, uh, good... Thanks.

"There's not a girl alive who wouldn't be happy being called cute." ~Tamamo-no-MaeYeah, the more intolerant they were, the more physical signs of arousal they displayed when shown gay porn. While cause and effect can be difficult to determine in situations like these, one of the more obvious hypotheses is that they're projecting some kind of self-hatred because they see their own feelings as abnormal and improper (because of societal pressure). By contrast, someone who's perfectly secure in their straightness doesn't really have any reason to care about how people see them or others.
