You could probably get away with the Big Bad floating behind the last row instead of taking up a chair, at least?

I sure said that!

Kind of a lost cause I'm sure, but I hope he's not a Fool this time. I think a Hermit could work just as easily as the main character in a Persona game.

You also don't have to be a Fool to possess the wild card - Fool used to be a kind of secret arcana before 3 made it standard for a hero to have.

I wonder what nasty part of the human psyche this game's villain will embody? Apathy toward societal evils, maybe?

The theme, for lack of a more elegant way to put it, seems to be "sources of great but ineffectual rage".

I sure said that!

nah, i think that was apathy syndrome already.

the theme of this game is feeling like a prisoner in the grind of daily life, iirc.

thats more likely to have a personification of frustration and anger than apathy.

It could be not even a big representation of some flaw in the world. The final boss of P1 was one girl's nihilism and hatred.

Then again, P1 was a story more personal affair, not the big, societal commentary P5 has been implied to be.

I had an idea that they Big Bad would manifest humanity's ability to sin/humanity's ability to do evil. In fact, the final boss would be defeated by NOT killing him, causing him to have a Touché moment and offing himself.

If the Big Bad end up being Hidden in Plain Sight in disguise, it would be cool if they would make it obvious if you know the hint they give. Like say the character is associated with three swords (one of meanings with Three of Swords in Minor Arcana is betrayal. The reason for swords is because it would play into his fight).

Also, instead of transforming into some monster, the guy keeps his human appearance and in final battle sits top of some monstrosity of his mind. AKA the most deadliest chair ever.

man i kind of wish persona branched off into a spinoff series closer in feel to the pre-p3 games.

that way it wouldnt be between "go back to the days i love or stay in the days i grow increasingly annoyed with but dont think are actually bad"

I am fully anticipating a P4-like approach, with a series of character studies being linked by broader social commentary.

My most-wanted Social Link for P5 is a teacher. Not as a love interest or a gaming partner, just normal teacher-student interactions. Suggested Arcana: Hierophant. Teachers are authority, after all.

I wish we could get a teacher as a party member if we have to go the high school route. Maybe make them the navigator. But whatever.

It'd be different if we got someone like the school janitor on board, or one of the other less prestigious school-related jobs.

I'd also like a gay/bisexual romance option. And to continue the trend of having an animal and a senior citizen as Links.

[up][up] Ikutsuki was... some sort of faculty member, right? Then again, look how that turned out...

Notice how I said party member. Ikutski doesn't count, even disregarding his betrayal.

It would be interesting if there was a link with a psychologist/therapist. Maybe the problem with them is that they can solve other people's problems, but they are unable to deal with their own. And maybe have them be a party member. Because therapists are so rare, you might as well have one.

For whatever reason, I would like the therapist have a rifle as a weapon.

Karkat: Yukiko goes through 3/4 of her social link knowing that running an inn will make her unhappy and wanting to do anything else with her life but then realizes that because her family supports her she should resign herself to running the inn.

I think that's about the point I stopped liking Yukiko.

Pulse: She never says she just didn't want to run it by herself, she says that because her family and the staff are all loving and supportive and stuff she has to do her best for them. I'm not sure where you got that from.

Hanged Man would probably be one of the best tarot cards to focus on for a game about being trapped by society with no way out.

Hang on. How's this for a villainous motivation:

They come to the conclusion that humans are pitiful creatures, chained down and going through their lives without purpose or meaning.

...So they decide to give them one. Whatever it takes.
