I know this is the Trope Repair Shop, but I didn't know where else I could put this. Also, there's a repair discussion for Magic The Gathering further down and no one complained, so...

Anyway, the Jak And Daxter series has recently had three of the games (Jak And Daxter The Precursor Legacy, Jak II Renegade, Jak 3 Wastelander) given their own pages, in addition to the main page. I'm worried about keeping everything organized. Also, I just don't think there are enough tropes specific to individual games to justify four pages. Plus, I've sunk hours into that page, and seeing it split has upset me... probably more than it should.

None of the Tropers who frequent that page seem to be acknowledging the existence of the discussion page, which is why I came here. Maybe a big "There's an issue here!" button will get some attention :/

A glance at the page shows tropes that shouldn't be on the main page (Nightmare Fuel, both varieties), natter (Heroic Mime) or completely missing the point of the trope (Gol and Maia are Fake Brits because the country doesn't explicitly exist in the game?), so yes, it needs cleanup.

And I don't remember Jak 3 having a subtitle.

Neither do I, but a Scottish internet pal of mine says that it does over there, so I guess we should include it.

Jak 3 definitely didn't have a subtitle in England, so it seems strange that it would have one in Scotland.

Exactly. I haven't played the PAL version, but I've seen it in English game shops. If English copies of an American game don't have a subtitle, it's safe to assume Scottish ones don't.

I think I found the source of the subtitle confusion. I don't think this site's a very reliable place for information (especially given that they used a promotional image from Jak II and put the Jak 3 logo on it on the Jak 3 home page).

But I think that's the least of J&D's problems here.

We can rename Jak 3 easily. I don't know if factual errors have to go through the usual procedure, but as you say, that's not as important.

Given the number of tropes specific to each game, I think using separate pages is justified. The original just barely makes it, but 2 and 3 each have a lot of tropes. Perhaps we can delete any tropes that only apply to one specific game and transfer them to the relevant pages?

I've added a Your MileageMay Vary sub-page and placed a few of the subjective tropes there (the Crowning Moment of X family, the Crowning Music trope, the Nightmare Fuel twins and Narm) though I'm sure there's more.

I've been through Jak And Daxter The Precursor Legacy and done some general cleanup. Is that what we're aiming for?

Looks good to me.

I just had a thought: if sub-pages like YMMV and Funny Moments are added to the individual games, should they be redirected to the ones for the series as a whole?

Um, well, for the Crowning Moment Of Funny and those, I think it should just be a direct link to the CMOF for the entire series. We don't need one for each individual game. If it comes to it we can just have a sub-section for each game in the folders.

I read somewhere recently (though I can't remember where) that Fast Eddie wants the Main namespace reserved for Tropes, so should we create J&D pages in the Video Game namespace and just create redirects, or just leave it as-is?

[up]As I have come to understand it, the Main namespace goes to the work of that name, unless the name is a common term or phrase that was established prior to the work. In fact, we've done several moves where tropes that shared their name with a work were renamed in order to give the main namespace to the work. I'm pretty sure Jak & Daxter goes in a main namespace.

[up][up]I too would want some clarification on this, preferably from the mods themselves.

The current preference is to make all new pages in the appropriate namespace (Literature, Film, etc.), but we're not making a point of moving any existing pages.

I'm bad, and that's good. I will never be good, and that's not bad. There's no one I'd rather be than me.

Moved all the tropes with orange bullets off of the main page and onto the YMMV page.
