Resplendent Eagle - if s/he comes out looking noble.

Laughing Monkey Prince/ss - if s/he comes out and smiles

Furious Apple Blossom - what's most likely going to happen.

I checked a baby name site. It doesn't know either.

I checked myself and found out it's Finnish, meaning "bear". Also apparently figuring in their mythology

So does that mean Lotso from Toy Story 3 had an almost-Meaningful Name?

Okay, I've been looking at this for hours now and I'm still convinced I've missed something.

The Rush action. It only moves you if the opponent moves, correct? Meaning that if you use it on someone at close range, they have to use a disengage action to get away; they move to short range, and then you reflexively move to close range. At which point they reflexively move back out to short range as per the rules for disengage.

Doing it at short range will just move you if they move, meaning it will keep you at short range unless you use your movement action to move to close range.

I'm trying to figure out any time I'd use it offensively as the name implies instead of defensively to stay out of reach of someone. I hope I'm just stuoid

O hey, another observation: charms by Essence rating requirement.

note

Higher ratings are really sparse. Especially with 10 abilities having nothing at five and 7 with nothing at four.

Well, I see why godbloods are getting an overhaul. If you thought the essence 3 cap did nothing to restrain half-castes before...

Holden's reported reaction to halfcastes getting exalt charms was "Hell no!"

Indeed. It seems they've capitalised on that cloud being removed from overhead.

Hmm... It seems like Craft and Brawl have the most high essence charms, with Craft having the most 5 essence charms (4) and Brawl has the second most (3), Craft and Brawl tying for the most 4 essence charms (5), and Brawl having the most 3 essence charms (18) and Craft has the second most (15). This doesn't really seem to their detriment, though, since both seem to just have lots of charms, unlike, say, Integrity, which has no 4 or 5 essence charms, but only 6 one essence, 3 two essence, and 2 three essence.

It's an interesting experience reading an Ex3 speculation thread now that I've got the corebook. People with questions that I want to answer but can't because bringing up the linked material is verboten, and so forth. And then there are gems like this post (bolding mine):

As long as the Brawler has as many mechanical options to explore as the Martial Artist I'll be fine. I'm still bitter about my 1e Brawler topping out on Solar Hero Style and having nowhere to go. Meanwhile, the Martial Artist in the party had a million MA styles he could pick up, all on the same 5-dots-of-martial-arts ticket.
Ah, dramatic irony is fun.

Yeah the reversal from 1e is pretty ironic.

Also have anybody read that fictions anthology? The insane setting errors in half of them are somewhat amusing.

Another character concept: The Black Iron Juggernaut Who Stood Until The End Creation's sweetest Dusk Caste Abyssal. Made the deal out of love rather than fear. She nearly died defending an orphanage she presided over from a bandit raid, blocking the doorway with her body until the life drained from her. As the voice whispered in her ears the promise of life, she said she'd gladly die if the children she protected could live.

The Deathlord trying to tempt her was touched by her compassion and instead offered her the chance to protect her children anyway. She was given the Black Exaltation and slew the fuck out of those bandits. Now she wanders Creation, cursed, having to leave her children for their own protection.

Since she is particularly gifted, her circle mates just call her "Juggs", much to her eternal embarrassment.

I'm making a Shard for a campaign I intend to run. It's not quite 2e or 3e, but a hybrid of the two with some new stuff added in.

One particular thing I'm changing involves Lunars. In this Shard, there were originally 600 Lunars, two for each Solar. After the Usurpation, when the Lunars fled to the Wyld, they caught on to the instabilities in their Exaltations much faster and discovered the process of creating Moonsilver tattoos much quicker.

Because of this, the Castes never broke. However, only around half of the Lunars took up the Tattoos. The other 300 or so rallied around a powerful and charismatic young Half Moon named Ebon-Scaled Sciron. Sciron and his followers abandoned the Castes and embraced the mutations brought on by the Wyld, using ritual to keep their minds (somewhat) intact.

In the ensuing centuries, Sciron and his followers were so warped by the Wyld that they ceased to be truly Lunars at all. Their Exaltations have been warped into something new. They are the Chimaeras.

Solar-Lunar bond'll need some kind of reworking, now that the numbers don't line up. How're you gonna handle that?

Each Solar was bound to two Lunars, typically one tended to fall into the role of lover, the other as best friend, but Exalted being what they are, that tended to have lots of variations.

Each Lunar is bound to one Solar and one other Lunar. Now that half of the Lunars have become Chimaeras, many of whom are homicidally insane, things have gotten... Complicated... Since the bonds were not affected by the transition from Lunar to Chimaera.

Because having your bondmate pop up as an Abyssal or Infernal wasn't awkward enough.

Yeah... One of the premade characters I'm building for this campaign is an unfortunate Lunar bound to a Chimaera and an Abyssal. Still, it can *sometimes* work. Chimaeras tend to be unhinged, but it's a bit easier to talk them down if you're bound to them.

[up][up]Kill them. Then possibly kill yourself, if necessary. Wait for the new bearers of your respective exaltations to pop up. Repeat as necessary. Problem solved!

Really from Jupiter, but not an alien.

@Native Jovian: That's certainly one way to go about it.

As a side-note, I'm not sure if I want Ma-Ha-Suchi to remain a Lunar, or change him to a Chimaera.

I also am torn on giving Chimeric Castes. Should they have Castes, or be castless? "Protean" and "Maelstrom" are the only two names for Castes that I've been able to come up with.
