Somebody translated the Saidaioujou ending. At least, the one with shot type one

CAVE just did something right with the plot for once, despite the amount of girlservice

Not sure weather or not Gunstar Heroes fits here.

I could say the Run-and-Gun game genre is a subtrope.

And sooooo, Stellavanity gets a 1.20 release in C83. Which brings some questions to mind:

How was the full version out in last year didn't get posted here? Second, why must the last stage be so hard.... Third, I don't know how to patch, unless there's none (from 1.00 to 1.20)

Necro bumped.

I'm not really sure if this is the right place to bring up an idea I've just had, but anyhow, here it is.

I have a fairly ambitious idea for a web video series that I would like to see moving forward. It can be considered part Let's Play, part machinima - you get comments on the situation like on an LP, but you also get an in-universe story, complete with Mission Control ordering our incompetent heroes around and throwing fits over the massive bills they run over the course of the games played (those war machines are expensive, you know). The series is titled Mook Pilots and its emphasis is entertaining the public with incompetence.

I would like to see that idea move forwards because I enjoy the genre, yet can't play games in it too well. This was an idea to turn otherwise mediocre gameplay videos into a far more entertaining experience.

Sounds like some of the stuff that was done with Fraxy, which where really popular among the community. Although those often took themselves very seriously.

Geh. I guess that's what happens when you make a bunch of your games exclusive on a console that doesn't seem to welcome niche japanese games.

Welp. I'll miss them regardless.

Well... Long as they're not completely gone I won't throw a fit. But it's still depressing.

being a PS 3 owner,it pisses me off how many good shooters are Xbox only.I mean, look at all those Treasures games, whose copies are out-of-print and on systems that weren't owned by that many people(Saturn and Dreamcast) and that were released on Japan only(in the case of Radiant Silvergun.I always wanted to play that game and dreamed of seeing the story-mode translated one day...and I can't.)and then they re-release them on a console whose most owners don't even care about this genre...

Yeah. Talk about fucked priorities.

Also

Dat fucking thread

holy shit

Is "if you loved the genre, you should have supported the console" ever a good fucking argument? I have never seen such elitist stupidity in one thread. Maybe they should have seen Cave's caving in coming like an avalanche.

yeah.I'm not a Sony fanboy,I just chose the PS 3 because it has more games that interested me.Most(I said "most",not "everyone")people that buy a Xbox 360 just care about Halo and Gears of War(and Call of Duty, though it's multiplatform.)and won't give a shit about the shooters, and thus, they won't obviously sell well, not even for a niche audience,so why even bother with this exclusivity?Treasure released Gunstar Heroes to almost every platform as to this day,but the other games that have become either rare,or expensive,or previously in Japan only,or in consoles that not many people didn't own back then? No,only on 360,the console were most people won't even care about them.I want to play Guardian Heroes,Ikaruga and Radiant Silvergun so badly, and they would have proffited more if those were multiplatform...

From what I can tell, the reason CAVE's shmups are on the 360 is because Microsoft practically begged them to make 360 ports; supposedly, the only reason Dodonpachi Saidaioujou got any console port at all was because Microsoft convinced CAVE to port it. My conjecture is that Microsoft noticed their poor install base in Japan and figured the type of people who will spend $70 on a game plus $100 on a superplay DVD of it might be willing to cough up the $300 for a 360. (It certainly worked on me. Still don't really like the Xbox 360, but I grudgingly bought one solely to play CAVE's shmups and Raiden Fighters Aces.)

So I recently played these neat little Java game series called Area Flat. They're pretty good for Java games of their time (in 2000-2001). Especially Area Flat 3. They're not too hard, but the graphics and gameplay are pretty good (for Java games, at least).

(The games require that you configure Java to not block them)

Ah yes, Thunder Force. Five was the best before Sega screwed everything up with Six.

Same as usual.... Wing it.

TFV had one of the best weapons ever, the Free Range. Every time I make games I almost always incorporate some weapon that acts like it.

Necro-bump again, but what set up do you guys use in Gradius V? I really like using Spread Bombs, Tail-Gun, Fire Blaster, Freeze Options, and Force Field.

Google Snake Game.
