Earthbound is weird but at the same time, I can relate to it. It takes place in a variation of the real world, after all, and traveling to all the different locations, and recognizing the character archetypes, is part of the fun of the game. It feels familiar, but twisted in a playful and slightly dark way.

I haven't done webcomics in a long time. The farthest that I've ever gotten in one, was in Lackadaisy (which, by the way, is awesome), but I haven't read it in over two years. I'll probably start over. The same goes for all of my others.

I think it's an experience worth having. It inspired Undertale, and Homestuck is apparently compared to it, but Earthbound, I think, is really its own thing. Even its sequel, Mother 3, is nowhere near as good IMO. (Mother 3, for one, moved away from the real world setting that I liked so much and became some random fantasy setting. Plus, it changed the style of music to be way less funky and creative!)

My thoughts on the series are these:
- Mother 1/Earthbound Beginnings - Heavily, severely flawed. But you can clearly see the beginnings of ideas that would be fleshed out and expanded upon in the sequel. Interesting mostly for historical purposes.
- Mother 2/Earthbound - Think of it more as a heavily expanded remix of the first game rather than a sequel, because that's basically what it is. Very similar story, similar characters, similar setting, but beefed up a lot, with many improvements to the gameplay, and a fleshed out, unique style of its own.
- Mother 3 - Throws away a lot of what I liked, like the unique music and the real life-inspired setting. Keeps the quirky humor and gameplay mechanics, but a lot of the appeal, to me, is gone.
