First, you haven't posted in this thread in 26 hours, missing several pages, so no, I didn't assume you would see it.

Second, I had no intention of naming you.

Third, my main objection is that I posted an idea and, in more words over several posts, you basically told me "Your idea is stupid because it uses my personal Pet-Peeve Trope." I couldn't care less if you like a particular game. I couldn't care less if the last episode of the game comes out and you hate it for one reason or another. It's a video game. Big deal. But you're not complaining about the game. You are telling me that an idea I came up with is "bullshit", not for any objective, critical reason, but just because it wouldn't make you feel good or agree with the way you think the world should work.

That's insulting, and has nothing to do with critiquing or analyzing a game.

If you think that's "tone policing", fine. We disagree. I tried to drop the subject a while ago, but I'm down to try again.

My problem is, after a while I just kinda stopped thinking of it as "your" idea. It was just an idea. And I shouldn't have let that happen.

This really sweet dog wandered into my yard so I've spent the last 40 minutes or so wandering around looking for his owner.

Found him, turns out the dog's name was Duncan. He was a cutie.

Once there was a puppy corgi in the street so my mom called him over and picked him up. He was a cuite-pie honestly. According to his collar tag his name was Winston. He was really cute and we almost kept him but our small dog didn't like him at all and as it turned out the corgi belonged to the new neighbors across the street.

Sometimes we see Winston in their yard outside in the heat or rain. One of these days we might steal him.

One of our somewhat ramshackle neighbors apparently left for Texas for familial reasons, and now their chickens are loose in town and going on what seems to be a looping route around here, which includes our lawn and it's associated chicken coop. To make sure that local animals and/or coyotes didn't get them we've been having to goad them into our coop - thankfully our chickens don't really seem to care about the new fowl that scamper in when we can get them in there. We can't exactly go messing about the neighbors place - to bluntly put it we care more about their loose animals than we do them, persay. Not to mention certain legalities, but...

My mom always had a supply of Big Red for years. It was too hot for me at first. I preferred Juicy Fruit.

Nowadays, Juicy Fruit tastes like pure sugar mixed into a bit of rubber for texture.

Cocoa Pebbles meanwhile tastes like chocolate cardboard for me. The off-brand stuff tends to taste far better in my experience.

These Minions Banana Tic Tacs taste like Juicy Fruit. I'm not sure why but that's what it reminds me of.

By the way, how similar are escalator internal mechanisms?

What are you referring to with the elevator thing?

The placement of internal motors and chains in an escalator, and whether they differ depending on who made it.

Also, escalator!=elevator

An elevator is a box that you stand in that is lifted or lowered by pulleys to rapidly move from floor to floor in a building with multiple stories

An escalator is a moving stairway in a building with at least two stories but not necessarily any more than that

...I have no idea about how much the internal mechanisms of either vary, but I know I've seen the Otis logo on elevators on both US coasts (specifically Oregon and New York) so they clearly have a very far-flung market if not a monopoly, and I'd guess their mechanisms are all closely related if not exactly the same.

I don't know the first thing about how escalators work, though.

They're just conveyor belts with stairs.

Ehh, I think they're more complex than that. A conveyor belt is just a belt on a couple of wheels. Escalators have rigid segments that rise when the "belt" (because I'm sure there is a belt involved) is at an angle, so that you can stand on them. If it was just a belt then it'd be a slope, not a staircase.

I probably sound like an idiot because I really don't know how they work. :/

Why?

From 10 PM tonight 'til 12:30 AM, there's going to be a power outage here. Since there's no candles or working flashlights, I tend to take a nap while there's a power outage, since there's nothing else I can really do. (Aside from walking around in the darkness or climbing a ladder in the darkness, but those are both bad ideas.)

If I ever wake up from a nap or from sleeping, I can't fall asleep for hours, even if I only slept for like an hour. :/
And then all I can do is, nothing but remain awake for hours. (Long story short, the entire house was built with only two rooms.)

I always tend to wake up shortly before or after the power comes back on. Mainly because of a light that goes on if the power comes on (despite said light being off prior to the power outage).

So... why not unplug or cover up the light that wakes you up, and just sleep normally as if the power wasn't out?
