I keep hearing people describe themselves as "introverted" and "charismatic" and can't help but think they imagine themselves as something like this◊, when in reality it's something along the lines of this.◊

I already know a few ironic hipsters, so it is indeed a thing. Accidental hipsters are a thing too.

I meanwhile like unpopular things as well as popular things that are apparently popular to be mocked.

Hipsterism is based on fundamental postmodern expression systems wherein ideas and norms are to be challenged. So why should I be working class to ehioy shitty beer? Who said only working class people can ejoy shitty beer? Who said that its stupid to use a typewriter for my essays? Society did! And by partaking in their brand of postmodern thought, they are somehow dismantling societal boundaries and perceived notions of what it is to do things.

I hate all kinds of labels anyway. I say that people should just like what they like and have done with it.

Applicable to hobbies, sexuality, and which way they face the toilet paper.

Bullshit. There is only one correct way to face toilet paper.

Also, the problem with hipsters is that it's that mentality, but they're insufferably self-righteous and self-congratulatory about it, like they're the world's only free thinkers.

That's it really. The worst part is that they have their heart in the right place, but their heads are just full of so much bullshit that it doesn't het out.

Not only that but if you don't adhere to their strict rules then you are not authentic as a person, which therefore defeats the entire purpose of what they are supposedly aiming for.

They are also basing their ideas off of concepts that are necessarily transient and therefore they do not have any solid ideological foundation upon which to build. Not only that, but they are more strongly reinforcing societal boundaries and notions because they specifically intend to subvert/dismantle them. Which is why people "grow up" out of hipsterism because it's not an independent, sustainable philosophy; it relies on others dictating to them certain boundaries which they then seek to "dismantle".
