If Oscar Wilde had lived in our time, he would be a /b/tard.

Actually, scratch that. He does, and goes by Jethro Q Walrustitty.

I was gonna say something about Asperger's /= ass burgers here, but then I remembered that I don't care all that much about it.

The problem I find with hard sci-fi is that it's more interested in selling its plausibility than an engaging story. If that's your thing, fine. I don't begrudge that, but I'm not that into it. I mean, Blade Runner isn't that hard when you come down to it either.

The Known Space world you might want to check out though.

I liked the original Star Wars trilogy. I wouldn't consider myself part of the fandom per se, but I liked the films. (The prequels? Not so much. Nice SFX, and Temuera Morrison was in one, but...dubious scripts.) This yutz just seems to think "space fantasy" is an insult.

Funny thing is, he's the one who said he wanted to get away from games with "magic and dragons." I told him that Star Wars may not have dragons AFAIK, but it's space fantasy and does have magic. That's when he got butthurt.

I'd call Futurama "comedic space opera." I'm not sure what to call Dr Who.

I dunno. I just like great worldbuilding and expansive universes.

not expanded, though. They're just glorified fanfiction.

I've generally got less concern for genre than for an interesting plot and setting. Not to mention protagonists whom I don't want to take out in the back forty and thump over the head.

Wesley was the best thing of Angel's season 4. And I think he was the second close best thing of season 3. He's just beat by Holtz.

Holtz is awesome. :D

See, I do agree with the first part, too. But sometimes I like to see creators...well, create a world or a universe and make it consistent.

Also, I like hating characters. Maybe that's why I like EVA, I guess.

I've actually read some of the Known Space books. Well, Man-Kzin Wars books, anyway.

I don't necessarily mind wanting to take characters out in the back forty and thump them; it's when that's my feeling on a character with whom I'm supposed to sympathize that it becomes problematic.

I don't mind hating characters, I just dislike when I find nothing redeeming about them and their assholery is supposed to be an indicator of their nobility. See Atlas Shrugged.

Apparently, Dany Bahar, CEO of Lotus Cars, claims that the new Esprit will be able to compete against the Ferrari 458 Italia and the McLaren MP4-12C.

Now, if it was just the 458, I could buy that statement (the Esprit V8 of the 90's was apparently comparable to the Ferrari 355 F1), but when you throw in the MP4-12C, it looks very overconfident.

So, Windows 7 isn't all that bad, actually. Using it now because both Macs we have at the moment are occupied, so I got the sloppy seconds.

I still find it blasphemous that I'm using a Dell product though.

At least it's better than Vista.

I liked XP, actually. And 7 is good.

Vista can die on a hellhole, though.
