If Oscar Wilde had lived in our time, he would be a /b/tard.

Actually, scratch that. He does, and goes by Jethro Q Walrustitty.

Recently I've been seeing Video Games as IJBM's little brother. Ironically enough, that just bugs me.

Flanker once posted re-written lyrics from the perspective of an orc being shipped into battle. Can't remember where though...
I'd like to submit my approval to this, as well as anything Orc-related.

Pagetopper.

I dunno when, exactly. I've just noticed that people seem to snap at each more frequently and there's this air of tension in a lot of posts. That and the complaining. Lordy, the complaining.

Again, this is just something I've noticed. I'm probably overreacting.

As an example of a useful, general idea, consider that of the controlled experiment. There's an idea that has turned out to be widely applicable. Some might say it's part of science, but it's not part of any specific science; it's literally meta-physics (in our sense of "meta"). The idea of evolution is another. It turns out to have quite broad applications—for example, in genetic algorithms and even product design. Frankfurt's distinction between lying and bullshitting seems a promising recent example. True. I left Gamespot for the same reasons after all.

I just admitted I used to frequent Gamespot. Don't worry, I'm better now.

@Norn, Tze: Fun fact; Paul Graham's undergraduate degree was in philosophy.

See, what I like about that movie is that the players use their puzzle-solving skills, acquired through role-playing, to save Robbie's life.
Don't forget, that one kid was going to kill himself, but then he didn't because he decided to go LAR Ping with his friends instead.

^^^^Worse, we have many GameFAQs refugees here, so don't feel bad. :/

Huh. And Alan Kay was a jazz guitarist. These things are not helping my indecisiveness in that regard.

When did "Okay." become an acceptable response to a thread? Is this some new meme?

I was one too, but I mostly stayed in some of the social boards, dead ones, and the Big Rigs Over The Road Racing board. My stay was generally pleasant.

It's hard to predict what life will be like in a hundred years. There are only a few things we can say with certainty. We know that everyone will drive flying cars, that zoning laws will be relaxed to allow buildings hundreds of stories tall, that it will be dark most of the time, and that women will all be trained in the martial arts.

What's wrong with the GameFAQs/Gamespot forums?

(I have an account on GS, but it's only because CNET tied it with my TV.com one)

I've never visited GameFAQs, but Gamespot...if /b/ were whole milk, Off-Topic would be reduced fat.
