To start off, I've been hearing mixed interpretstions about Umineko EP 7, most notably about Kyrie being the true mastermind (?) and Beatrice being a red herring. Clarifications from the knowledgeable please?

Note: If anyone wants to play Higurashi, download THIS version, with descent, ps2-level art injected into the PC version.

I'm also getting a bit confused on the whole deal, the only real semi-solid proof of you-know-who being the mastermind is some fanart.

Excellent news everyone! Rumor has it we are going to get a PS3 port most likely with with redone art! Well, surely they can't just port it the way it is, as much as I love R07's writing he's by far the worst artist in the business. Excuse the moonrunes.

Quich question I really want to be able to read/play the visual novels and I saw that a site called himeyashop has Umineko 1-4. Has anyone bought things from that site and is it safe to order things from there?

I don't know, but anyways, that would still be in Japanese, wouldn't it?

Does anyone know if translation patches work with original copies?

The translators' site actually encourages you to use the patches only on the official releases.

In this case, ok, some others wouldn't. (For example the english Ef wasn't even released as a patch, but as a completely reworked game installer file.)

Sigge - I just bought Umineko 1-4 from Himeya a few weeks ago. It arrived in about a week, so I'd say they're pretty good.

(The PS3 port looks amazing. I wonder if it'll be possible to get a fan-translation installed on it?)

Oh wow. That port trailer is really nice. And it addresses the one thing I was a bit worried about. One of the things I actually liked about Ryukishi's art was the facial expressions the characters had.

If that reel of Beato C Gs is any indication, it doesn't look like I have to worry about some epic trollfaces.

The trailer looks ****ing awesome. If they port it to english, I just might buy a PS3 just for that.

Though I wish they would remake Higurashi.

They will most likely do a patch to add the PS3 sprites to the PC games just like they did with Higurashi.

Kinda wonder if it'd be possible to put those graphics in too.

I dunno about you, but what first really sold me on that trailer hard was the C Gs and whatnot for Battler and Beato in the rain. The scene in EP 4. You know the one.

I mean, not that I wouldn't settle for just the updated portraits, but it seems like I'd be missing out on something.

Alright, I'm playing Higurashi no Naku Koro ni in Visual Novel form, and in all honesty... it's sort of meh. It just feels sort of boring. I mean, a dialogue scene that would take all of thirty seconds takes around five minutes. It just sort of seems to drag.

In my experience, written stories are always a bit more boring when read after their motion picture adaptions.

That only applies to me when the written version is a book (that doesn't have many pictures).

The first episode of Higurashi VN gets good after Rena says "THAT'S A LIE". After that it's epic.

Though I like the comedy parts too.

I have read two arcs so far, you HAVE to stay through if only to witness how Ryukishi07 originally handled the final scenes of Watanagashi-hen. The way he plays with text output rhythm is... wow.

Also, the all-cast scenes at the arcs ends are really awesome, especially if you already know the ending.

Hmmmm... with how adorable and squishy the original models are, wouldn't the make the frightening moments even more frightening?

Judge for yourself when you get to the USO DA scene in the Onikakushi-hen game.
