I'm back. Apologies for the wait, I've just been rather busy as of late.

Hmmm... Would you say Leona is troubled by her inability to contribute, at the same level as Drake?

Yes, but for rather different reasons.

That, and she thinks the reason no-one talks to her is because she's useless.

Dunno, probably (they recycle names anyway). Not like he'd be of any use though.

... He's a frakking Grey Knight.

He also has 0% relation to the plot in any way, and, having done very little in the first game, is unlikely to do anything in the second.

^^ Exactly.

Given that we're dealing in squad-size missions these days, he'd be as useful as Him on Terra for insta-solving problems, leaving the others with little to do but maybe act admiring. Hell, as I recall I only put him in because I had nothing to do otherwise, the Dakkabomma being nowhere near the action at the time.

Yo, back. I sometimes do wonder about escalating to larger engagements again. Perhaps something worth considering when coming up with future missions.

I'll see your invincible Grey Knight, chabal, and raise you an Omega-Minus human fetus contained in a specially-constructed dark lantern designed to focus and direct its supreme Blankness.

Your Ward-touched abomination's brains will be running out of his eyes, ears and nose within seconds of exposure.

Don't you bring no Ward shit up in here, boy, he existed months before the Unhallowed One got his sweaty hands on the master copy of Grey Knights canon.

... wha

Wha, indeed.

Seriously though, the aforementioned Omega-Minus fetus is easily the most powerful weapon in the possession of Inquisitor Bronislaw Czevak; simply by exposing people to the tightly-focused cone of its energies, he has:

  • killed Three Grey Knights at once, who before his intervention were poised to utterly slaughter the rest of his retinue (including that badass Relictors techmarine, the one who went toe-to-toe with that chainflail-wielding Khornate berzerker and survived);
  • slain a very powerful and highly-skilled Chaos Sorcerer of the Thousand Sons named Korban Xarchos;
  • and while he did not kill it outright, the fetus did royally fuck up a Greater Daemon of Tzeentch while it was busy manifesting in the materium.

He dropped the fetus into the portal in which said Greater Daemon was manifesting; I'm assuming that the fetus was destroyed as a result of this, and even if that isn't the case it is effectively beyond his ability to recover—and considering that this planet was located SMACK!

Dab in the middle of the Eye of Terror, odds are high that no one else will be able to recover it either.

Wonder what the budget guy said to that.

"You dropped the equivalent of five year's psyk-out weaponry production in a what?!!?!"

PFFFTHAHAHAHA

Ah, Inquisitors. Is there any abuse of power you won't try out?

Yep, stole it from the vaults of a secret Inquisitorial fortress located on the Edge of the Eye of Terror; he slipped into the Vaults using an Eldar webway gate, nabbed the fetus, and stole back out.

Of course, while he had told his retinue (technically the retinue of Inquisitor Raimus Klute, who at one point had been Czevak's medic and acolyte) that they were going to visit said Inquisitorial fortress, he neglected to tell them that they would be arriving in the vaults and what the purpose was for their visit. Klute, as you can probably imagine, was rather upset when most of his retinue nearly got killed by a trio of Grey Knights simply so Czevak could get his hands on a portable Blankness projector...

"Yes, yes, it was technically stealing, and yes, I did use xenos tech to carry it out, and I did happen to lose it in the Eye of Terror, but I assure you it was worth it."

By the way, being the thread's expert on Canadian accents, how badly exagerated is this guy's accent? Given the subject, I'm guessing he's pushing it, but...

Yeah, that's definitely exaggerated...but sadly, not to as great an extent as you might think. That's recognizeably Quebecois French, alright... -_-

Recognizeable being the key word.

It's sad trying to explain what "that warbling thing they do" is called to the ignorant masses around these parts, believe me.

So Leona gets a few upgrades, Drake gets a pep talk... Any loose ends left?

I actually can't think of a way that Leona can go along with this while remaining in-character. Arcturus managed to phrase it in the one way that would get her to turn the offer down automatically. If you hadn't noticed, Leona is very protective of herself on a metaphysical level, nd so the prospect of transferring her soul is abominable to her.
