....WhyInteresting way of handling it. What sort of dynamic do you envision between Cupid and Aphrodite?
I see it as a My Beloved Smother sort of thing, but since we already have Mother Gothel, it could probably go along the lines of "I gave birth to you, therefore you must do whatever I say and never question me."
Hmm, maybe we should make this another thread. I'm starting to get excited about this.
"War doesn't prove who's right, only who's left." "Every saint has a past, every sinner has a future."The biggest problem I can see with doing Cupid and Psyche is the inevitable association with Hercules. It could partly be mitigated by using the Roman names for all the characters (which would also avoid the awkwardness of having "Cupid" and "Aphrodite" in the same story) and choosing a very different visual style from Hercules.
A way to differentiate Venus from Gothel would be to make her not the villain—vain and controlling, certainly, but not ultimately the Big Bad. Someone else could be manipulating her in order to prevent Cupid from ever taking a wife. Maybe it could be something like: if Cupid is ever able to marry his true love, something will happen involving his God o' Love power that said villain doesn't want.
For some reason, I'm thinking we should have a fairy tale set in Australia. Don't know why.
Let's set one in a 3rd world country!!!
if done right, It might kick some ass.
In Neo Arcadia, there are no politics. Just Law, Order, and judgement. And violence - LOTS OF F***ING VIOLENCE! YAY, VIOLENCE!!!They already have The Rescuers Down Under, but a full-fledged fairy tale musical for Australia would be pretty cool. Maybe a Magic Realism setting in the vein of The Princess And The Frog would work.
Looking for some stories?@Kara: Great idea! Maybe Zeus or Athena could be The Chessmaster, or Ares could be the brutal bully that he is. Aphrodite could easily be vain and stupid enough to be played hard.
I don't like the idea that once a location other than Western Europe has been done, it can't be touched again. I'd like a story about humans set in Africa, for example, and there are as many Greek myths as fairy tales that you could take for inspiration. No one seems to mind repeats for France or England.
"War doesn't prove who's right, only who's left." "Every saint has a past, every sinner has a future."Have Disney's past fairy tale based movies actually been set in western Europe, or were they just in a general fairy-tale world based on western Europe?
Most of them were set in real-world countries. The locales for many were not explicitly identified within the film, but if you asked the animators, they'd tell you Snow White takes place in Germany, Cinderella takes place in France, etc.
About that western, how about they get the guys who made Rango to head over to Disney?
I still stand by Third World Country, or any place in the world about to become a Third world country...
It'll be a good learning experience...
In Neo Arcadia, there are no politics. Just Law, Order, and judgement. And violence - LOTS OF F***ING VIOLENCE! YAY, VIOLENCE!!!Rio took place in Brazil and they shows the slums! It's getting there.
How about that tale of Persephone? Bonus points if they keep it in the general 'verse of Hercules and get James Woods back.

Okay, but eliminate everything that made the first film bad.
The first film was a Disney classic. There was nothing wrong with it, or its animated series. (...okay, the animated series had a plothole, but that happens in most transitions and it was generally funny enough to excuse that.)
Tell that to the general consensus.
The general consensus that made it popular enough to be about the most recurring world in Kingdom Hearts? Okay.

...Oh well that says it did receive mostly positive reviews. WELL HOW ABOUT....

...oh well I guess that's only one source. WELL HOW ABOUT...
... know what? Just read the reviews on Amazon. *sigh*

Amazon reviews are notoriously skewed and unreliable. And you know what? STILL HAS AN AVERAGE RATING OF FOUR STARS. Hercules is my go to example of how adaptations can suck as adaptations, and still overall be pretty darn awesome movies.

ZE THIRD REICH!
TALOSTALOSTALOSTALOSTALOSTALOSI've always wanted an adaptation of Thor's adventures with UtgÄrdaloke. Lot of tricks in that one, a couple of kids to serve as POV-characters and overall fun stuff.
That, or I'd love to see a disneyfied version of Faust. Or Dracula as mentioned :p
"No, the Singularity will not happen. Computation is hard." -Happy EntI'm on board for Faust, especially if they get Randy Newman to clean up some of his songs from his musical of Faust for use in it.
Oh God, not Randy Newman. I'm sorry if I'm insulting anyone here, but the guy simply cannot write decent songs. His music is the main reason I didn't like The Princess And The Frog. Let's stick with someone who's good at that kind of stuff.

Looking for some stories?
Speaking of Snow Queen, scuttlebutt is that it's back on again as a CG project
