Right, but if they make turning the system completely off a bit more difficult, then people might be more encouraged to use the Street Pass system. Which is a good thing.

Also, I figure that like the Wii has an option to turn off WiiConnect24, the 3DS will have an option to turn off street pass.

Awesome! My local EB Games is already allowing for early preorders! The price hasn't been finalized yet and there's a $10 deposit, so I don't know if I should though.

Don't do it. Anyone who says they know the US's release date right now is lying through their teeth. Pre-ordering something months in advance when the official release date hasn't even been revealed is a bad idea.

Yeah, I was really skeptical when they told me, so I held off for now. Still, I have preordered from them in the past and they were really great and that's also where I'm preordering Epic Mickey.

^^ I'm waiting till I see a price figure. I don't like blindly predicting prices based off of past trends...

So what games, if any, would you buy on the 3DS' VC if/when they get announced?

I'm hoping for some of the Game Boy Kirbies - specifically Dreamland, Dreamland 2, and Star Stacker. Man. I had so much fun with Star Stacker as a kid!

Also looking forward to Link's Awakening, and hopefully we'll see the Oracle games, too. Ohhh. And the original Game Boy Tetris. Yes. Maybe I'll finally be able to play Metroid II as well!

I wonder how they're going to handle the colour pallet thing? I remember the GBC had secret buttons you could press at startup for different pallets for GB games... maybe you'll be able to select your preferred one for our greyscale friends.

Well, the news of a Game Boy Virtual Console gives me more reason to buy this.

Especially to get a chance to try all the GB games I've managed to miss.

It's more frustrating waiting for the asskicking than the asskicking itself.

Goodies I want to download from the VC:

  • The original GB Tetris, simply because I don't own a SP and I'm too much of a lazy bum to go and download a GB emulator and find a ROM. Oh yeah, and for Music A...
  • The original Shantae, just to try it out.
  • When the GBA section eventually lands (oh come on, you know it will) any of the Mother GBA games on the off chance that they actually get a localization (I just want to play the games in English without an emu, is that so much to ask, Nintendo?)
  • The original Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, just to give it a shot.

Beyond that, I've got no clue as to what I would want...

Hmm, you know? I wonder if we'll get the GB/C Pokemon games.

It would be glorious to see my old pal Missingno. again. As well as play the Surfing Pikachu minigame. ...Hell, release Surfing Pikachu as D Si Ware with a graphic overhaul, I'd buy that.

Pretty much everything that has been said above, mainly Kirby. Plus I'd love a Augmented Reality Scribblenauts, Pokemon, or Ninten Dogs sometime in the future. Players could actually use cards or something and control their team's moves through a 3D semi-imposed player space. Hell, even if they made a PIXEL game in Augmented Reality, I'd snatch it up first thing.

I want this Defictionalized so badly.

^ Sounds dangerous. Cool though.

So let me get this straight here. Augmented Reality works by using the camera on the back of your 3DS and having the things on the screen interact with the objects, right?

That sounds... amazing.

Yeah, if you've ever seen Ghost In The Shell or Dennou Coil, it works exactly like that. It's pretty much a simplified and miniaturized handheld Reality Warper for consumers.

I would love it if you could take Pokemon from the VC version of Pokemon RBYGSC and move them to the DS games. Just so that you could make a connection between every generation.

Hm. I wonder if you could use it to, say, build a dungeon map in real life or something, and have it be used in the game.

Something that could be really cool is if you had a game where you, say, navigated a labyrinth, and you could use one of those dry-erase grid-maps to create the floor-plan in real life, and use the camera to create that level in the game.

And then send your maze to people, see if they can navigate it.

I have a message from another time...
