Hi! I haven't been lurking but I decided I want to become a part of the fandom anyway, so I'm gonna attempt to... become part of the fandom anyway. Assimilate me into your masses, oh ye fans of dom!

It's probably customary to link to music videos around these parts, right? I can't imagine that this hadn't been posted yet, but it doesn't have the million views it deserves and it's making me want to run in a marathon in two weeks. And it pretty much feels like the start of things looking upwards for me again. So here is my first contribution!

I don't actually know all that much Vocaloid music yet. I love songs and videos like this above all... I have a lot of trouble with deep-seated stress and an inability to let go, so I often use music videos to bring myself to tears and relieve some of that bottled-up stress! There's a lot of good Vocaloid songs for that. "Double Lariat" was my first big one, though even "White Dove" can work that magic! I also really like "Hello, Planet", and the entirety of Kagerou Project, and "Sekiran'un Graffiti" is one of the most beautiful things ever. My favorite Vocaloid song, I've decided, though, is "The Intense Singing of Miku Hatsune", because not only is its presence in that famous concert on Youtube the climax of the show, but it's one of my absolute favorite musical experiences of all time. And it's distinguished by being a song that is as great as it is because it's sung by a "singing robot".

That should be pretty much it for now! Except, wait! I heard that there's supposed to be a Kagerou Project anime! When will it be out, and more importantly (and less Google-ably), what are the chances that it'll be good? Adapting the dream-like music-video-format into the format of full-length anime episodes seems hard to do and I'd only entrust such a project to a studio that really knows how to experiment and take creative chances.

Kagerou Project is

  1. A series of songs
  2. A series of novels
  3. A manga

The anime is apparently going to be called Mekakucity Actors' and it'll come on April 12th. Don't know what channel, but to America, all anime is on the Internet Channel. tongue

I don't watch most of the songs. The connections look complicated and I don't have much time (or mind power) to put most of it together. Also I dislike how they rely so much on Miku and IA, despite how much I like IA.

Looking at the Vocaloid Wiki, all the new songs are from IA now. I think they're forgoing her character and just using her voice because it's smooth, bright, and fresh.

Which I like about her, but I've never approved of how they give favor to certain Vocaloids over others...

Hey guys I'm relatively new to the Vocaloid fandom, but slowly I'm learning about everything, I must say my favorite Vocaloid is MAIKA! So, there's something I'd like to ask: how steep is the learning curve of using Vocaloids? Or average curve if they have each a different curve.

Using Vocaloids?

...I wish I knew. They're so expensive. I downloaded UTAU and I still don't even know how to use that yet.

But I'm guessing that Vocaloids with smoother voices are easier to work with. With enough time all you probably need is to tweak em enough so that they sound good, whether it sounds "real" or not.

I wanted Meiko for my next birthday, but I'd definitely need a better computer first.

Hrm. Apparently the Twindrill team did another Teto April Fools joke; this time they faked announcing a Teto Vocaloid 3 voicebank, complete with English.

Yeah, I'm expecting a Teto English UTAU bank to appear, because I believe that Team Twindrill stated Teto will NEVER be turned into a fully-fledged Vocaloid.

Ehh...I decided to look up the rest of the Happiness Series because I like Koufuku Anshin, but...ehh, I'm not sure what to think. Zombies, psycho stalkers, a "gamer"...

The one with zombies was talking about finding everlasting life, the stalker song sounds all cute and bubbly despite how psycho it is, and I like the gamer song.

It's about wishing for a cheat code for a happier life, but all the little controls like work and school make it all too stressful.

And a gun to the head is the reset button.

I think everyone feels like that now and again. ;p

Wouldn't a gun to the head be the "kill" key?

[up][up] Ehh, my reaction wasn't so much of "wtf is this crap" as it was "what is wrong with this writer?!" ...and yeah, I thought as much. I didn't really look all the lyrics, but when I saw the "reset" at the end and the author's comment that life makes a shitty game, I immediately thought of the POV character committing suicide. And regarding the stalker one, I immediately thought of this chapter of a manga I read where the POV character was going out with the hottest guy in her school but turned out to be a psycho stalker completely absorbed in her delusions. She eventually went on to severely injure the guy as well as his real girlfriend (they initially appeared to have died, but were shown to have survived in a later omake, though his girlfriend was somehow framed for the attack). So yeah, I wasn't at all surprised at the sequel to the stalker song.

Perhaps someone has already posted it, but Voctro is hosting a contest with Maika, so I'm posting here the link in the wikia to help the contestants. This is my favorite Ensemble Dark Horse entry:

I knew it. I knew that Lady Gaga would acknowledge Vocaloid sooner or later. I still want to know if she's seen this.

Because she seems like the kind of singer who would lend her voice on her own....but then at the same time, she seems like the kind of artist who would demand creative control of her music.

Like a woman Prince.

Also, another of Hitoshizuku-P's chorus story videos with the Cryptonloids:

Haha, 1:39...[lol]

Sexy outfits. And Miku playing the villain AGAIN.

It's looking like there's never going to be an end to the ∞Night series lately with these unrelated songs. Party x Party and Phantom Thief F....but, they still sound good.

The ∞Night series had Gakupo and Gumi and Phantom Thief F had IA and Mayu too...guess they're just extras. But I always love it when Meiko's included.

Nice dress.

And hair?

Heh, when there were only like 12 Japanese Vocaloids they were able to put them all in songs together.

Now that there are probably over 30? A lot of them tend to be on their own...

[up] It can be possible to have all the vocaloids sing the same song at once but the result would ether be Uncanny Valley choir (if done poorly. Sturgeon's Law is more likely to be enforced), more like "few singers at a time" (though the song would probably have to be as long as a classical piece) of if you feel like half assing it, making individual covers and splice them together with complete disregard for harmony.

The people who are good at it can really make nice ones.

I've figured out that choruses are meant to average out the singers' voices to make a more even product.

But you're right. Some choruses I've heard have just been spliced together with uneven volume and rhythm and such.

But since Vocaloids are so expensive, it would help to be good with them to get your money's worth out of what you make them sing.

Yes, up a few posts up.

LOOK AND SEE THINGS. tongue

Because apparently it's big news for Vocaloid everywhere lately. Miku's opening for Lady Gaga, Hitoshizuku-P releases a new song apparently Cho Party 3 which I think is a concert type thing? The last one had Vocaloids too.

And also in the vein of big things for Nico Nico Douga! Halyosy produced a new song that the rest of NND is singing too. As such I don't know which came first, the human versions (there are A and B versions) or the Vocaloid version...

But it's a good song anyway. Sounds so much like Smiling.

This song is really neat, and catchy as all hell. The Len & Rin pair are pretty damn versatile.

Sure, they're brother and sister, or leader and servant, or lover and lover, and they come in the same box. And they have the same voice actress.

Such why they're so popular...they got dynamic to sing together, or just apart. And I'm curious to see what people would do with them in English if it's true that their V3 will have the option.
