Did you end up going with fansubs? Funimation still seems to be down.

I guess it is.

Yeah. I just googled "watch fullmetal alchemist episode 10" and clicked one of the links.

Did you make sure it was the new anime and not the old one?

Hughes dies in like episode 24-26 in the first anime, not episode 10.

Ah. I have no sense of perspective, as I didn't watch an unknown number of early episodes of the first anime, but have read the entire manga.

Oh, that reminds me. A new chapter's meant to be coming out soon.

Video portal's back up, though episode 10 has still not been uploaded. Probably will soon though.

...and now I'm reading that Dameon Clarke couldn't be brought back for the OVAs (does that mean the DBZ games have been reusing Cell's lines from the anime?).sad

I smoulder with generic rage! No! not the family man!

Personally, I'd thought in the original series that Hughes had survived being shot, and had to go into hiding. Given that he'd loved his family so much and how clever he was, it seemed like hiding to protect them seemed like a sensible thing to do with a shapeshifting assailant running around. Plus, knowing Mustang like he did, I suppose he'd figure that his old frined would be likely to uncover something suspicious. While the funeral scene and montage were pretty hard on the Sorting Algorythm of Deadness, Ed seeing the glimpse of him at the end of the episode (while a nice stylisitc touch) also provides an escape hatch for the writers - he had to flee and was at that remote train station.

If course, this is fanwankery at its finest. dead is dead, as Ben Linus so aptly put it. But it is nice to dream up alternatives to canon, after all...

...Aaaaaaand it's down again. Guess I'm going to go for the fansub then, I really don't feel like waiting any longer.

Funi has episodes 10-12 now! Hooray! I never actually got to watching them fansubbed, so that is very good for me.

I guess it is.

I hadn't seen episode 12 at all, so I had a little catching up to do there.

I just watched episode 10. Wow, just wow. Having read the manga, I knew what was coming, but that scene (you all know which one) hit hard.

I'm bad, and that's good. I will never be good, and that's not bad. There's no one I'd rather be than me.

I didn't actually find #10 to be all that Tear Jerker-ish, at least compared to #4. Having #10 spoiled for me didn't help, but I don't know...I guess it's just that they didn't dwell on it as much. Still, the funeral scene almost had me in tears anyway (and as I've said before, I rarely cry due to fictional stuff). I'm finally caught up now; #12 is really good. People on MAL seemed to really hate Izumi's voice, but I think it worked fine.

So the next episode should be the beginning of material that wasn't in the first series. There's also apparently going to be a new opening in the episode after that.

I guess it is.

The trailer for the second part of the series is out with a preview of the second opening, and it seems Ling's seiyuu will be Mamoru Miyano.

Also, it looks like the Funimation portal's started to actually work again.

The Elrics' teacher is pretty badass. Also, the post-episode trailer was very vague. What's that about? (Though I notice it mentioned Pride. Another homunculus?)

Right person, wrong sin. King's Wrath in the manga, and if I remember correctly the big leader Pride won't show up for a while.

Er, it's been working for a while. I made a post about it like a week ago.

I haven't watched 13 yet; I'm busy finishing up Gurren Lagann. I'll probably watch it later today though.

Yeah, they aren't talking about Pride the homonculus. The homonculi have Gratuitous English names, whereas the word "pride" in the next episode preview was actually translated from Japanese. I'd imagine the next episode is just a continuation of this one.

The fight was pure epic. PURE EPIC I say! Shame about what was cut, but we got Sloth foreshadowing in return...

Next week is the big one...new opening and ending, official manga continuation point, I can't wait~

EDIT: Father's seiyuu is the narrator. Oh, Crap!...!
