Depends, are said Scouts on a Valve pub?
I'm talking about casual, pub play here.
"What's out there? What's waiting for me?"Scattergun usually, followed by Pistol. The Bat is solely close range, the Scattergun can annoy from a distance.
CRUTCH WEAPONS ARE NOT GAMEBREAKERS. STOP COMPLAINING BECAUSE YOU GOT KILLED IN THE PYRO'S ONLY EFFECTIVE RANGE. JUST KILL THE CLASS BEFORE IT GETS TO YOU WITH ITS 100% SPEED.

The world will look up and shout "Save us", and I'll look down and whisper "Too bad, Waluigi Time" Vote Loki 2016Amen hallelujah and peanut butter.
#IceBearForPresidentThere's no need to get so angry over terms that have no explicit dividing line. These things will happen, given the nature of YMMV.
"What's out there? What's waiting for me?"Screw it, I'm adding Link to the Super Smash Bros page. Both Link and the Axtinguisher are effective against noobs but useless against pros.
The world will look up and shout "Save us", and I'll look down and whisper "Too bad, Waluigi Time" Vote Loki 2016Dude, don't escalate this.
I almost never use the bat, unless both my primary and secondary's clips are empty, I'm in melee range and about to kill or die. And even then, I usually pack the Atomizer, so it doesn't do much good.
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.I had an idea for a new pyro primary a while back that could solve his problems. Basically, it fires a stream of lit gasoline in an arc similar to the grenade launcher. The secondary fire would shoot unlit gas, which could either be stuck to surfaces to be lit later, creating a wall of fire for a few seconds, or sprayed on enemies to cause fire and afterburn to crit for a short while. They would also be considered soaked, giving it good synergy with the neon annihilator. Thoughts?

[MOD MODE]
The Edit Warring on the page will stop immediately or it'll be locked and suspensions will start coming down.
[/MOD MODE]
That could be cool. He'd be kinda like Demo in that way by setting traps. Maybe he could also ignite them from a distance with the flare gun or scorch shot. The unlit gas would have to have a way to get cleared somehow, though. Sticky bombs can be short circuited, shot at, or airblasted.

Maybe other liquids like jarate and mad milk could wash it off?
Oh no Willbyr, you dropped your mod hat.
But in all seriousness, can we stop edit warring now?

Eh, whatever. It's a moot point after the nerf.
The world will look up and shout "Save us", and I'll look down and whisper "Too bad, Waluigi Time" Vote Loki 2016Never really got around to playing this game until today. So far I'm rather liking it.
To someone who's never played first person shooters past Halo and a few old WWII titles, this game is waaaay hella fast. Halo feels like a snail on a propofol drip compared to this game. Definitely a learning curve for me, since I'm used to taking a stealthy/flanking approach on console FPS games.
So far, I've found that at this time I completely suck at using squishy classes. Best go was a sniper, and the combination of unfamiliar speed and a bit of lag meant I got headshots by firing blindly in the enemies general direction and crossing my fingers. Spies are fun, but again Ive not got the hang of combining cloaking with disguises. Damn You, Muscle Memory! indeed, I keep forgetting about the time it takes to uncloak. I got a few killstreaks with the Heavy, but against veteran spies I'm pretty useless. They're like funnel web spiders; they immediately uncloak, hit and cloak again without even bothering with disguises, picking off entire groups in a go before a mad pyro scores a lucky hot.
On that note, I've done my best with the Pyro. If I can manage to find some hiding spots near the enemy spawn or flank through side passages I mop up snipers and engineers pretty quickly. The air blast is also damn useful for killing soldiers with their own rockets. One of those small circular indoor maps pretty much let me and one other guy spawn camp the entire enemy team through the entire game with a 2:1 k:d.
One thing I'm wondering, are unlockable items completely random? So far I've gotten a few weapons that range in "level" from 10-90 or so (if levels mean anything at all).
The level on weapon is purely cosmetic...and yes what you get from drops is random...well except for achievement-unlocked weapons...those unlock in sequence...(except if you get them as drop)

Give me cute or give me...something?Drops are random, but you can trade most normal weapons 1:1 at scrap.tf or similar sites if there's a weapon you really want to try out.
The Mann Co. Store also lets you borrow one weapon a week for that matter.
Do you highlight everything looking for secret messages? The level don't mean anything, but rare levels are coveted on the trade market. There's a pretty large surge for Level 100 items, Level 69 items, matching level item sets, etc.
And this game really is super quick. 15 second respawn never felt so long.
^ I don't think it's as quick as Quake tho...but I haven't played that in a while...as in years. But yeah, it's definitely faster than a lot of console FPS and such...
Also: are the new weapons price drop to 1 scrap yet? I really want to try the BASE Jumper and Tide Turner...

Give me cute or give me...something?On the scout, I generally use the Boston Basher as a melee. The Scout is the defacto flanker and maximum harasser for Pub play, so if yo uget close enough, and you know you can get a good hit in with the bostom basher, its damage is nothing to scoff at. An unaware heavy being healed by a medic can get hit by two boston bashers hit and you can dump the rest of his health with your scattergun (though it would be better if you just kill the medic but they tend to be more aware...)
Scout is the flanker class. its weaknesses are sentries which they must learn to avoid and so.
For learning...oh boy. It takes a while, but it is worth it because it is fun. A well aware heavy is a nightmare for spies. Just keep your minigun rotated...let the spy think he's got you after you hear him uncloak (you gotta put attention to noise. that is what gives a spy away. even a Your Eternal Reward Spy) and turn suddenly on him and what he thought was an easy stab is suddenly a third world country's worth of export economy in custom cartridge bullets upon his face.
It has always been the prerogative of children and half-wits to point out that the emperor has no clothesCarbon-mantis: Take a look at the "Videogame lessons learned the hard way" thread, there's some good advice buried in there.
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.
Which weapon does the Scout use more: Scattergun or Bat?
