Years.
You got some dirt on you. Here's some more!Has anyone here ever fought the Smokey Prog in the first game?
Yep, no deaths.
Here's Chuggaaconroy's run of it if you want to know how to efficiantly kill it.
I regretted buying this game. It shoulda just been a rental.
I didn't know it was so short and simple. Does the 2nd game improve on those areas? Does it get a bit more complex and actually a length that makes it worth buying?
"Every opinion that isn't mine is subjected to Your Mileage May Vary."Yup. No restricting time limit, and more content.

Yeah, its much better. No day limit, better controls, 201 pieces of treasure as opposed to 30 ship parts, caves to explore, tons of post-game content, a better challenge mode which can unlock a hidden cutscene, detailed enemy bestiary, treasure listings, two-player versus...
It does begin a little slow, however. Day 1 is all tutorial, and Day 2 has several more. After that it's pretty smooth.

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Pikmin 2 is an Even Better Sequel. Lot more strategy, and is a lot longer.
You got some dirt on you. Here's some more! So, what kind of new stuff do you hope is in Pikmin 3? Personally, I'm hoping for 2-Player co-op in the main game, and of course new Pikmin types.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!I wouldn't mind a few more interesting goals...like the ability to build defences and walls...and then missions where you hold off waves or large predators.
"Every opinion that isn't mine is subjected to Your Mileage May Vary."A mode where you control the creatures and kill pikmins.
But mostly, more of the same.
A mission where all your turnip automatically maxxes themselves out with Pikmins, and then every single Pikmin in the map and inside the turnips become evil and tries relentlessly to kill you. The mission is to run around and do whatever you can to survive for the entire day and then run back to the ship. And the pikmins quickly gets replaced.
"Every opinion that isn't mine is subjected to Your Mileage May Vary."I'd like to see:
Green Pikmin
-Immune to spores, released by certain enemies and nasty-looking mushroom hazards.
-Can work on a seed, and cause it to sprout into a Pellet Posy, release treasure/sprays/whatever, or grow into a vine that makes a new pathway. This is different for each seed.
-Mature into buds and flowers while above ground, at about the same rate.
Cyan Pikmin
-Immune to freezing, caused by certain enemies and ice chunk hazards. As such, they are the only Pikmin who can destroy ice chunks that may block paths.
-Perfect traction on icy surfaces.
-Their attacks may cause enemies to slow down.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique! How would spores be distinct from poison?
Spores would cause the Pikmin's flower to erupt in mini-mushrooms until whistled or killed. It isn't a poisonous mushroom; just a parasitic one.
Green Pikmin can, I dunno, absorb and digest the spores or something.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!I like the games hope we get a third
With the power of a dragon I can make up for my inability to spill."When will you make an end?"
"WHEN I'M FISHED!"
I think it'd be interesting if the game gave you control over select enemy species as your allies, with a couple caveats.
- Breadbugs could be large carriers, with the ability to drag things regardless of weight, but they take up a HUGE number of Pikmin slots and can't attack at all.
- Mamutas are a quick "Flowering" for any of your Pikmin, but they take up half your team, are a bit weak, and they're easy to hit.
Things like that.

I love that series, Pikmin 2 is one of my all time favorite videogames. Also, I have fought the Smoky Progg and the Waterwraith. The former took me the entire day to defeat, and the latter was probably one of the scariest bosses I have ever faced.
Eating a Vanilluxe will give you frostbite.Yeah, but this is a Pikmin in general thread. I didn't know there was a Pikmin 3 topic, however.
So, has anyone figured out exactly how the Submerged Castle timer works, yet?
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!I think it's somewhat random. Either way it was the first cave I was forced to leave treasures behind in.
Edit: Around 5 minutes. And Steve actually has a page on the Pikmin wiki. And the new formats of Wikias are kind of making the site hard to navigate.

You got some dirt on you. Here's some more!Pikmin actually has two Wikis, believe it or not.
On my first file of Pikmin 2, that battery from the Submerged Castle was my very last treasure. The one that Olimar says reminds him of the very first treasure. Ironic, no?

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Oh I was looking in the wrong one then. Why do so many game series have 2 wikis?
You got some dirt on you. Here's some more!I'd believe it. In small fandoms without big hubs, it's probably pretty easy to get disconnects like that.

Please help out our The History Of Video Games page.
How long do you think it will be before Pikmin 3 is finally ours?
