When I hear "PCP," this is invariably what comes to mind.
...eventually, we will reach a maximum entropy state where nobody has their own socks or underwear, or knows who to ask to get them back.As a martial artist, I expected that of you. That thing makes defeat by pain impossible, and only disabling on KO-in works.

'''YOU SEE THIS DOG I'M PETTING? THAT WAS COURAGE WOLF.Cute, isn't he?I think PCP is an awesome name, but makes me think something more along the lines of a drug conspiracy story.
| DA Page | Sketchbook |As I understand it, punny names like that are actually pretty common in manga, we just lack a language skills to understand the pun. For example, 'Naruto' is a ramen topping.

Or Flame Of Recca where all the main characters' names contain a reference to their specific Elemental Powers.
Or Maison Ikkoku, where all the character names were based on the number of the room they occupied, or some other number if they didn't live at Ikkoku. It's really dead common.

Creed of the Happy Pessimist:Always expect the worst. Then, when it happens, it was only what you expected. All else is a happy surprise. As I understand it, punny names like that are actually pretty common in manga, we just lack a language skills to understand the pun. For example, 'Naruto' is a ramen topping.
I think in this case, though, Kishi was just playing homage to Toriyama, who oh-so-loved his food puns.
| DA Page | Sketchbook |^ And Naruto being named after a ramen topping is later semi-Justified: his parents took the name from a character in one of Jiraiya's books, which Jiraiya admits is just some stupid thing he settled on while eating some ramen.
And, for me, PCP will always be the substance street gangs take to turn into vampires.
PCP is literally one letter away from SCP. >_>
Sorry, I can't hear you from my FLYING METAL BOX!It's not as if Stan Lee was any better at it. We have a Steven Ulysses Perhero trope after all...
"No, the Singularity will not happen. Computation is hard." -Happy EntStan Lee also had a problem with drug names. Mary Jane, anyone?
| DA Page | Sketchbook |Pwahaha. Remember how we were talking about hot-blooded girls in anime in the sexism thread?
http://www.onemanga.com/Bakuman/91/13/
If that's not hot-blooded, I don't know what is. And the next page with Niizuma is epic as well.
"This is just the sort of passion I need!"
My thoughts exactly.
Also, Crowning Momentof Heartwarming at the end.

I begin to suspect that Iwase and Niizuma are met with separately because the editors fear that any joint meeting would result in them shouting at the top of their lungs at each other until their throats are raw, then Destructo-Nookie, and deadlines would get missed.
Ah ah, I always wondered about that. On one hand we have Takagi and Mashiro stuck to each other at the hip. On the other we have an author and mangaka team that NEVER seems to meet. I can't remember how Aoki and Nakai used to work on Hideout Door, but my impression was they met fairly often? (Though that might have just been Nakai trying to get close to her?)
SKJAM, your comment amuses me. And you're probably right at that.
In b4 Paedo Bear reaction shot I mean look at takagi's eyes...
On Iwase's Hot Blood... it's the wrong kind of hot blood, the Vegeta kind... see the Dragon Ball entry in the Hot Blood page for what I mean... Contrast with Niizuma's, which is the right, compelling, contagious sort...
And yeah, don't get them together or the building might collapse...
The graveyard scene... is it sunset or sunrise? I can only suuggest one song for this chapter:
I have a hard time believing Hokuto No Ken used to be so popular...

'''YOU SEE THIS DOG I'M PETTING? THAT WAS COURAGE WOLF.Cute, isn't he?I think it's sunset. They were waiting for the assistants to arrive at 4:30, then Hattori got there before them. So presumably it's late afternoon/sunset.
I hate to be all weepy and stuff, but that was definitely a Crowning Moment Of Heartwarming....I'm getting serious WAFF vibes.
Tumblr here.Ah yes, about Hokuto no Ken. I tried to read it, but the art style and content turned me off completely.
While the art is one of the best of its era and considerably raised the standards of Manga, the Values Dissonance is very off-putting, unless you take it as a parody... think Might Guy and Rock Lee
'''YOU SEE THIS DOG I'M PETTING? THAT WAS COURAGE WOLF.Cute, isn't he?I liked Fist Of The North Star alot, its sheer ridiculousness was part of the appeal.
Though Kenshiro was a total Boring Invincible Hero.
Sorry, I can't hear you from my FLYING METAL BOX!You throw a column at him, the column breaks like it was made of... even carboard is more resistant that that! And what about torque and momentum? At least he should lose his balance!
'''YOU SEE THIS DOG I'M PETTING? THAT WAS COURAGE WOLF.Cute, isn't he?That's like complaining about the physics of Gurren Lagann.

Sorry, I can't hear you from my FLYING METAL BOX!Which were utterly destroyed from pretty much the very first insant... Even underground, HUMANS CANNOT POSSIBLY DIG THIS FAST!! And then there were the mole-pigs...
But Gurren Lagann does not break Willing Suspension of Disbelief... it... trascends it. While Hokuto No Ken tries for realistic, gritty art, and very detailed Your Head A-Splode, which makes it much much harder to take seriously than the extremely stylized and OTT Gurren Lagann
IMHO
'''YOU SEE THIS DOG I'M PETTING? THAT WAS COURAGE WOLF.Cute, isn't he?Meh. Doesn't sound like my type of manga. And everyone goes on and one about how epic Gurren Lagann is, but I have no interest in mecha or pure fighting series, so I've been deliberating on whether to start that or not. Though I adored Code Geass (except for the goddamn Euphinator incident).
But ANYWAYS. I adore Hattori so much. I love the panel where he's trembling and happily holding out the beans and rice and whatever.
PCP is probably much more memorable in Japanese than Paafekuto Kuraimu Paatii or a bland Japanese name would be. It has... impact I guess? It just sort of stands out visually.
