I'd give it a 7 8/10 personally.
Someone dies. Brutally.
But because of the two points below...
- In the comic book Negan's a perfect comic book villain - cruel, nigh-invincible, and a little convoluted and mysterious. In the show they try to build him up more with some world-building and showing the effects he has on people in his vicinity, but... the problem here is that Negan has no believable power structure. The Saviors are so enigmatic in the comic that it's easy to believe Negan has some grip over them. As someone previously stated there's been multiple opportunities to kill Negan Jessie Pinkman-style and make everyone's lives a whole lot better, but none of them are taken. Negan surrounds himself with guys who'd probably prefer it if he was dead. This episode emphasizes how ridiculous Negan's plot armor is. Rosita missed a near point-blank shot because the bullet bounced off of Negan's baseball bat - now unless I'm underestimating the sturdiness of a baseball bat wrapped in barbed wire, that just shouldn't have happened, or Rostia, the trained soldier, is a terrible shot under stress.
- Two, Negan keeps getting impressed by f'cking everybody. In the comic it's just Carl, and maybe Rick, which works. In the show, because they had more people at Negan's introduction, we have all these people who want/deserve to kill Negan: Rick, Carl, Maggie, Sasha, Michonne, Daryl, and Rosita. And as a result we end up with more assassination attempts and acts of defiance - each of which end with Negan backing down because he's suddenly "impressed" with that person's gumption.
...this went from a good episode for moving things along, to a 7 8/10 for stretching my suspension of disbelief. Other than those things I enjoyed it. We also got to see most of the surviving cast again, so that was neat.
Oh, right, 8 out of 10. That death was perfect. 3rd most brutal death in the series behind Glenn's and that one lady Maggie threw onto a spike before letting a Walker bite her face off.

I write stories and shiz. You can read them here.Oooooh hype
I can't wait till I get some free time tonight
Say to the others who did not follow through You're still our brothers, and we will fight for youWith regards to your points:
- The Saviors are near universally filled with assholes who seem to follow Negan because they get to be pricks to everybody, so there are very few people who have enough grievances to want him dead within Sanctuary. Besides Dwight (who follows Negan because he doesn't believe there's an alternative) the rest of his lieutenants have a great life with perks and the worst they have to put up with is Negan's bad jokes and kneeling. As for Rosita, she's not a soldier in either the show or the comic and is about ten feet away when she fires at Negan while he has Lucille right in front of his face. The bullet didn't bounce off Lucille, it got stuck in it which is somewhat realistic as the baseball bat is one of the old school types which are a lot sturdier than modern bats which prize being lighter and accept breaking a lot more often. Seeing as Negan has beaten possibly a dozen people's heads in with it we can assume it's made to last.[[/spoiler
- I don't think Negan is actually impressed by anyone but Carl and Daryl. He doesn't spare Rosita because he's impressed, he spares her because she was already committed to dying and killing somebody else and taking Eugene is more of a punishment as well as removing their ability to make bullets. Besides that I can't think of another instance where he's impressed by anyone, even with Rick he spends the whole time fucking with him just to be a dick about it.[[/spoiler

Clicking your folder toggles the one higher up on the page, at least for me it does.
Ceterum censeo Morbillivirum esse eradicandum.Does it for me too.
I have a guess for why too:
I think the poster above forgot to close their folder code. Code sees "open folder", ignores your open folder, and then then sees your "close folder" and uses it as the close folder for above.
Say to the others who did not follow through You're still our brothers, and we will fight for youWeird. I've just changed it to spoiler text.
(4)
What's that saying, "no honor among thieves?"
We haven't seen how well his lieutenants are treated, but Negan still holds all the cards. He "allows" Dwight to sleep with his own wife for kicks. Presumably they operate on the point system as well, and if they don't, they still have to kneel. This is a group of, as previously stated, assholes who follow Negan because they get to be pricks to everybody. Why would a gang of pricks not want to be head prick? Why does Negan get to have five wives? And as we know from the comic Negan blocks at least one of his men from raping women. So this group of assholes, I'm not really seeing why they would want to keep Negan in charge.
That aside, Dwight's life would be better without Negan, and maybe I'm looking into a crystal ball here but we know he doesn't like Negan and even the show illustrates how much of a prick Negan is towards Dwight. As seen with Dwight's friend there are Saviors who don't want to kneel or live by Negan's system. Negan willingly puts himself in a room of unknowns, timebombs. To my awareness no matter how much of a big shot you are in prison, if a gang of like-minded fellows decide they don't like you, you end up with a broken neck in the shower by the end of the week.
I was under the impression she was given she was traveling with Abraham and wearing camo colors a good percentage of the time. Regardless she's a good enough shot that we've seen her headshot Walkers before. And I'd have to look again but how hard is it to hit an adult male from this far away? That is incredibly bad luck.
Fair.
Impressed with Abraham for looking at him when he picks someone to maul. Carl he was impressed by in the comic. Daryl being a new addition I count him as well. I thought he was impressed by Rosita. He laughs and goes, "Aren't you the bad-ass' when he demands to know her supplier and she pushes her face into the knife pressed against her in that scene. He's more impressed by Rick swallowing his pride and getting stuff for him than he is by Spencer coming up and asking him to depose Rick. Negan seemed to be impressed by Rick's Season 6 appearance.
So admittedly it's not "everybody" but the number of times he's impressed by something, or does some variation of, "Oh ho, wow, I did not think you had it in you!" bugs me. You expect Negan to f'ck around and be a dick and mock, but here he actually seems impressed at the worst possible moments.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!Yeah something's wrong with your first post coding, I can't open that folder.
o_o
Well, something's wrong with the folder code. I'm certain I did that right.
This should work. If it doesn't, oh my.
Yeah, folders just aren't working for some reason.

Mileena MadnessI really like the new episode. It was really good, and also really satisfying to see Fat Joey and Spencer bite the dust. And it's great to finally have most of the surviving main characters finally together again. I'm curious as to what'll happen with Eugune though.
A "What If?" scenario recently occurred to me. Let's say that in an alternate universe version of Season 1 or whatever, Rick's group doesn't make it out of the CDC Building in time, and they all die when it explodes. What do you think would have happend to the following groups later on without Rick and company there to influence, change or destroy them: Hershel's Family, Woodbury, Abraham's group, Terminius, Alexandria and The Saviors. There's also The Wolves, but personally I like to think that if they had never encountered Rick's group/Alexandria they probably would have ended up crossing paths with The Saviors later down the line and getting promptly slaughtered by the Saviors in a really nasty Curb-Stomp Battle.

To quote Clementine: "The same thing that happens to everyone."
I write stories and shiz. You can read them here.We have no idea what the perks are for being a lieutenant but Negan does tell Daryl it's better than just being a normal citizen. As for them not wanting to be head prick, you'd have some of them who are sincerely loyal to Negan (such as Simon), some of them who aren't interested in being leader (the Savior equivalent to Jesus; they don't like their boss but don't want the burden of being in charge), and some who are afraid of the consequences of it (killing Negan would just make Simon in charge, and as he does seem to be friends with him that is a good way to get killed and made an example of). Plus let's say you kill Negan and become boss, well now you've just set the precedent that if you kill the boss you become the boss, so what's to stop the next guy from killing you?
That assumes that Dwight has a life past killing Negan. Simon would definitely kill him along with anyone genuinely loyal to Negan (and from all we've seen of them the only Saviors who don't like him are Dwight and the saviors who aren't part of the extorting crews and thus unlikely to kill the man themselves. I'd also dispute that Negan has put himself in a room of unknowns, from all his appearances he's shown he's great at getting inside people's heads and getting a read on them, the only one of his lieutenants who aren't enjoying themselves and dislike the guys is Dwight who for other reasons isn't going to betray Negan (yet at least).
In both canons she's just someone Abraham picked up after meeting Eugene. And yeah, she did have bad luck but she also should have maybe not shot Negan while he had Lucille literally in front of his face.
Abraham I think he was more amused than anything else by his last words. He's not really impressed by Daryl the same way he was with Carl since with Carl he overlooked the death of two of his own men while with Daryl he kills Glenn as punishment. I took his "you're a badass" line to Rosita being more mocking than sincere as she's being defiant and showing she doesn't care if he kills her or has her face cutup. Since he wants to hurt her in revenge for damaging Lucille and she's showing that physically hurting her won't have that same level of impact he then tells Arat to start killing other people instead.
With Spencer it was more how little he thought of him and his offer, and I don't think he was being sincere at all when he was talking about how he would not have screwed with season 5 Rick since we all know he would have certainly done so.
I disagree, seeing as most of his "I did not think you had it in you" moments come as he's murdering or just finished murdering someone "Taking it like a champ!" "Good work everybody, even those two, they get the spirit award!" and things of that nature. Beyond that he's impressed with Daryl's defiance as he has his men beat him to a pulp, he's impressed with Carl's actions before psychologically torturing him for hours, and he's impressed with Rick swallowing his pride while rubbing it in his face that he can't do anything about it.
Negan like show of force against him because it look like worthy oponent worth the breaking, he is confident Daryl is going to break sooner or later like Dwight he want to do something with Carl and is impress Rosita dosent care about death but each time Negan just find a way, usually by target other people, this show Negan is corrupter and is having an efect on everyone: When Rick told Spencer to shut up, Daryl killing fat joseph(hell even the camara is angle exactly to nimic Negan beaten of Gleen), Negan dosent want just strong warrior, he want assholes and bullies, which explain why he gut Spencer: he didnt just kill rick and take charge by force as it should be.
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"Any predictions about the mysterious guy with the weird shoes who watched Rick and Aaron load the stuff into the truck? Will it be someone from the comics we haven't seen yet or maybe a character unique to the TV version?
big hell(3) Fair enough.
I'm thinking it's supposed to be Beta, Alpha's lieutenant from the comics, as a set-up to The Whisperer War. One other fan I knew told me that Dawn was made up of traits from Negan and Alpha though.
Negan's "you work for us" mentality and Alpha's "only the strong survive, make sacrifices to prove how strong you are" mentality.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!Guy overanalyzes mid-season finale in an interesting way. I like how he interpreted Negan's "against the grain" line, and the use of food as a symbol for power.
I read a blog post that theorized that the mystery person was Dwight, which makes no sense to me. If it was Dwight, why keep it a surprise as to who they are?
I liked it better when Questionable Casting was called WTH Casting AgencyMaybe to screw with people.
Personally, I'm leaning towards "this is someone we've seen before that we assume is dead but isn't"
Say to the others who did not follow through You're still our brothers, and we will fight for you^Except that aside from Heath or Morales {The latter of whom I really can't see ever coming back since he's a minor character we have not seen since Season 1}, I can't think of any characters who either vanished from the show or had really ambigious deaths that could easily be written around.
They've already played that card with Morgan. (Who, frankly, I think I needed a few more scenes of "Where on earth have you been all this time?" when he re-appeared ... especially from Rick.)
Hopefully, it's not someone from Fear The Walking Dead. That would be a turn-off....
Agreed. I didn't particularly like when Buffy and Angel did that.
Ceterum censeo Morbillivirum esse eradicandum.Articles buzzing around about The Walking Dead toning down the gore "because of complaints after the season premiere."
