All I could keep thinking was how huge Dale's gun was. That thing looked as big as him.
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult.Swish, yeah Shane was first at fault, but Rick didn't help matters any by not saying something like "Y'know, dude, you might want to sidestep a bit" after the move.
Almost wish there had been a need to shoot, though. The absence of Shane wouldn't bother me in the least, after this latest episode.

All your safe space are belong to TrumpShane's at the ragged edge. He'd convinced himself that Rick was dead, had just gotten comfortable in his role as the protector of this band of survivors (and by "comfortable," I mean, "banging Rick's 'widow'") when his old boss cruises in, pretty-as-you-please to knock him down to second-banana again. Add to that the stress of losing people and dealing with the dead (in more than one way), you're looking at what could be charitably called a stressful situation.
When your world has been as thoroughly destroyed as Shane's has been, more than once, I'm not surprised that he's getting some weird thoughts in his head. To his credit, he seemed to figure out that what he was thinking about wasn't the correct course of action even before he was witnessed.
"The secret we should never let the gamemasters know is that they don't need any rules." - E. Gary GygaxSomething that's been bugging me; body count. They had what, 6 maybe 7 people die in the attack; where the hell were they till then?
It's the Lost or Stargate Universe principle: you have a set number of nameless survivors, but you don't want to cast them too far in advance, in case you need one to be a named character or guest star who has been laying low until that point. The camera simply doesn't pay any attention to them except in group shots with their faces unseen. Leaves the creators of the show free to add characters as needed.
"The secret we should never let the gamemasters know is that they don't need any rules." - E. Gary GygaxHmm. There's also the issue of the other survivors not being armed. What's the point of going back for a bag of guns if you're not going to hand them out to everyone able to shoot? And whats up with Merle's brother dual wielding a shotgun/crossbow?
Merle's brother is a damn badass, is what. But seriously, the gun team had just gotten back as the walkers attacked; they didn't have time to distribute weapons before everything went to hell.
"The secret we should never let the gamemasters know is that they don't need any rules." - E. Gary Gygax^^^^ Didn't think it was that much of a body count. Offhand, I only remember Ed or whatever the wifebeater's name was, Amy, and... crap, I forget his name, but the one where his wife went nuts with the pickaxe on his head when they were taking care of the newly dead dying in the attack.
Good thing AMC is showing all those encore presentations of TWD, I guess... or would be if they weren't almost all coming on when I can't watch them anyway.
^ Actually, the attack had already started before the gun team actually got there. They heard the racket as people started screaming and shooting, and ran in the rest of the way, as I recall that scene.

All your safe space are belong to TrumpI meant the scene when the were at the CDC and the walkers were coming.
It may have at least partly to do with the fact that knowing how to use a gun (and, more importantly when you have a severely limited ammo supply, when to use one) isn't universal.
I know if I were in a tense situation like being out during a zombie apocalypse, I'd be leery of everyone being armed, and at least some of them responding to "funny" noises with a hail of gunfire.
That's just a guess on my part, though.

All your safe space are belong to TrumpWell I figured Shane would of at least taught the basics; Americans being gun fanatics and all.

He had his fingers on the trippers; now unless he's got a plan that has him escaping after firing one bolt and one shot, he's screwed.
Still looks cool.
I'm so glad they subverted the trope where someone is stupid enough to let the zombie of someone they cared for bite them. Do we have that? We should.
Needs a new signature.^ I don't know, but if it's not it should be.
On an online chat thingy, when that scene was going I was all "NO YOU FUCKING IDIOT DON'T DO THAT", right up to Boom, Headshot!. Then I was all "you Magnificent Bastards" to the writers.

All your safe space are belong to TrumpAs noted in the series/TWD page discussion, by Paradisca Corbasi: Writing staff for TWD S2 is being changed completely, the S1 staff being laid off.
All your safe space are belong to Trump- facepalm*who thought this was a good idea.
It's because we're not allowed to have good things.
i. hear. a. sound.Shit, now it's gonna end up like 28 Weeks Later.
x4 ...the fuck? I don't even know what to say to this...
As for the subversion, I actually saw it coming for a while, from the moment she flashed her gun at Rick. Still the show's Crowning Moment Of Awesome, though.

Needs a new signature. Why would they lay off the writing staff after the blistering success of the first season? Did they ask for too much money? Were they surprised at the show's success and decide to send in "real" writers (i.e. studio hacks)?
Does not compute.

Hmm, it doesn't sound THAT bad from reading the article: only two of the six episodes had their teleplays written by any of them. I knwo writers all work together to improve each other's work, but maybe they weren't very good at contributing?
DumboWhile I do find the act somewhat questionable, I think it's a little premature to declare TWD RUINED FOREVER or (as was done on the trope discussion page) the guy who did the firing "Too Dumb to Live", especially since we don't really know any details of how post-S1 writing is going to be done, and by whom.
In short: I suggest we wait and see before declaring doom.

@ Nohbody. With regards to Shane being in path of the bullet... The gun was pulled first, and Shane was in the wrong by walking to where he did.
And I haven't read the books or comics this is based on... But am I right in getting the creeps about the CDC guy possibly experimenting on the group to try to get a cure?
