So the theme for this week's anime seems to be "Why aren't we watching this instead?" Qualidea Code had a focus episode for Hime, who turns out to be an interesting and likable character that should have been the MC from the start. Meanwhile, Zestiria gave us an episode of Berseria instead, which was much more interesting
Yeah, no kidding about Zestiria.

I dropped Qualidea Code because of how unlikable the main character was. Hime would make a much better protagonist.
What happened in Zestiria?
We're suddenly following some under dressed woman as she tries to escape from a prison where she's being held by the inquistors as some other woman tries to help her, then they bump into a guy who's part demon who also tries to escape.
It was all nicely animed and interesting, but the only way I knew I was watching the same series was by the next episode preview being in the same style as the previous episodes.
Basically they just jumped into the prologue for Bersaria.
I'm trying to watch My Hero Academia, but this protagonist has, like, negative balls.
Between this and that Netflix Original J-drama series, Good Morning Call, I'm starting to realize that I hate wimpy pushover protagonists, they are so tedious to watch.
It's one thing to make a spectacle. It's another to make a difference.I don't really see how Deku is particularly cowardly or wimpy, but then again there's obviously a pretty big divide between me and a lot of anime fans when it comes to this particular issue.
It was the class scene and the bullies scene that followed it that cinched for me. In both scenes he spends the entire time trembling and whimpering in fear.
It's one thing to make a spectacle. It's another to make a difference.he's anything but a coward as the series goes on, i can't recall any other time in the series where deku cowers or backs down from anything. he's probably too reckless, if anything.
can't really argue against it if you disliked it enough to drop it though.

I mean, depending on how long this continues I don't think this series is for me, unless there are episodes focusing the infinitely more interesting cast of heroes.
It's one thing to make a spectacle. It's another to make a difference.i'm speaking mostly from my experience of the manga but there's plenty of focus on the other characters as well as the series goes on, like a lot of other battle shounen.
it's up to you if you want to keep with it or not.
Eh, maybe one day, for now I'm kinda done with it.
I'm not "ganbatte through the pain" enough to suffer through such a character arc, I guess.

It's one thing to make a spectacle. It's another to make a difference. He rapidly evolves into a ganbatte through the pain shonen protagonist, and stands up to the bully pretty early on. For the rest of the series he's less of a spineless wimp, but his nerdiness and awkwardness still sticks pretty hard.
"Curry killed the pussy hoping that I could kill the hate in you" - Curry, D. "TABOO | TA13OO." TA13OO, PH, 2018You wouldn't like Re Zero then, which is all about how a Normal guy who doesn't have any power stay that way in spite of being teleported to another world.
Watch SymphogearI'll be the first to admit that the cast of My Hero Academia is boring, but I don't think Deku has any issues with being too timid as the series goes on. In fact, his biggest issue that I saw before I stopped reading was that he was way too eager to get himself into stupidly dangerous situations for no good reason.
Like I said, my main problem is how utterly incapable he is of standing up for himself at this point in the series. Like, have some pride, man.
It's one thing to make a spectacle. It's another to make a difference.Yeah, but that doesn't last long.
I should note that I'm not suggesting you struggle through it. The series is overhyped anyway.

It's a weekly highlight for me, but it's better to spend time on something you love from the start, in the end.
"Curry killed the pussy hoping that I could kill the hate in you" - Curry, D. "TABOO | TA13OO." TA13OO, PH, 2018Do you have to like shonen stuff to like the anime?
ACCOUNT NO LONGER USED. *straps on jetpack*Hell no. With only a couple exceptions, I hate Shonen action shows. That didn't stop me from racking up, like, thirty days on My Anime List before I stopped recording.
Yes, kind of. It's all the standard shonen tropes executed in a better-than-average way. So if you're somebody who's gotten sick of the tropes, like probably is, it's good because it revitalizing it, but you do kind of need to have seen something worth liking in those tropes in the first place.
I blame Bleach. It was so awesome at the start, and then, sixty episodes in, I realized that nobody was ever actually going to die, they were never going to bring back the characters I actually cared about, and nothing was ever actually going to be resolved.
My Hero Academia is one of the ones I like though. I understand not liking the main character because he does alternate between pathetic and stupid. But the frog girl is awesome.
Other ones I like are the original Fullmetal Alchemist, and Soul Eater.
On a similar note, A Certain Scientific Railgun is worth suffering through the bland characters, under-utilized setting, and boredom of the first season for the sheer awesomeness that is the Sisters Arc.

How many episodes is it to get to the Sisters Arc, though?
It's one thing to make a spectacle. It's another to make a difference. It's the beginning of the second season. You can just watch the first half of the first season (Level Upper) because the second half is bad filler. Then after you watch the Sisters arc you can stop there because then you get even worse filler.
So maybe thirteen or fourteen episodes? Level Upper isn't bad either.
